Precisely what I thought, just wanted to hear others' input. How is the climate in Quebec City? Does it seem to fit this criteria? My guess about this location is about lease; the store could be endangered of closing especially judging by how the company is doing in America. To my knowledge, they havent closed any stores in Canada recently... Ultimately, it appears things could be tight for TRU in Canada not quite as much as America though.

Do you live in the area? I've love to see more in-depth photos and maybe some details about the store's interior. Canada's kind of distant from my homeplace...

The location pictures is right across a major mall.  TRU is unfortunately in a small plaza almost vacant.  The kind of plaza that had many stores coming and going.  The store remains open though!  I don't live in the area.  I'm 65 miles away but i go there 4-5 times a year.  I'll try to get inside pictures.

I run a blog all about Dead Euclid Square mall and its outparcels.  If you want to see more pictures of the old Toys R Us at Euclid Square, please go here: TRU photos at ESM.

Thanks and great site!  I can't believe I didn't find it until now :goodidea:

Check out this Toys R Us in Japan. What a bizarre repaint job on a 90's era store. I believe the company is in a remodel phase which seeks to drape existing stores in blue colors... seems to be a trend now.

Toys R Us; Manchester, Connecticut. 3-15-2007.

They recently did another lazy blue repaint job a few months ago, removing the rainbow colored tiles over the windows. Why is Toys R Us aging to being so bland these days?!

For the record, this store was built in 1993 and has gone through a few minor renovations over time. The latest is this seemingly company wide shift towards blues which reared its head in 2006.

Would the Compusa next door happen to be one of the ones closing?

Nope. Both two remaining Connecticut CompUSA stores (Manchester and Orange) will remain open (for now).

A now vacant Toys "R" Us/Kids "R" Us in Battle Creek, Michigan. This store was built in 1986 and closed during the 87 store closures and conversions of in 2006.

It was original brown roof, rainbow-striped until the very end although the realtor claims it was renovated (maybe interior) in 2002. This was probably taken years before closure.

It's taken months to compile and write but I've finally written up a Toys "R" Us design history for 1978-1989. Here's Part I; probably one of my most focused ones. Thanks have been given to most of you posters here on this forum for the information and such. Give it a read, comment!

Here's something I never tried before.

I was curious so I called the Clay, New York Toys R Us store (which is an old-school one) today to ask if the rainbow-stripes were still on the building.  The woman I spoke with, who was very nice, didn't even know! So she went outside and reported it's still has the rainbow-stripes! I was worried for sometime now this store was going to have a hacky repainted job like a few other old ones in the Northeast (Woburn, MA and Horseheads, NY).

This is officially the last store in New York which still has the brown roof and rainbow-striped look! I'm making a deadline to go back in the next two months (once the snow melts at least) to take more pictures of it.

TRU7536

For someone like me that worked for TRU for 7 years, yes 7 seven years I know a lot about the company and still do. I still get all my info from my former employees.so if any of u guys need info ask me, I can get the info that the public doesn't know! Also one thing you guys should check out are the break rooms!!! Holy crap, I seen milfords and watersburys, they are so cool. But milford beats out waterbury, its so old school. A lot of the breakrooms are next to restrooms and a lot of the breakrooms have open doors, so next time u guys stop in a TRU check out their breakrooms. We were allowed to decorated as however we pleased. Some of them are so cool looking!!

XISMZERO

I'm a Toys R Us fanatic myself. TRU, you must get some pictures of those breakrooms for us. I'll bet there's some old decor on the walls, eh? We have no way of seeing them (and I for one won't be applying for a job in Milford anytime soon) so could you please use your connections and hook us up? I for one would do much to see them!

That Milford store was certainly one of the "L-shaped" ones I explain in my website expose. I'll bet it was renovated recently (like 5 years ago?) and was built in the early 1980's? I also believe West Hartford, CT was the earliest built store in the state (d_fife supposes it was 1981).

Please keep me posted!

The TRU in Revere, MA was an original Brown Roof/Rainbow.  I think it's now a Target Store.

The Medfod, MA TRU (that was formerly a Child World) is still vacent (along with a still vacent Ames next door)

Thanks for the info. In its last years, Revere had its roof painted over white and had the lettering updated but they did leave the rainbow stripes in tact. I also visited the Medford store in its vacancy as well back in July 2006. Pictures should be on the forums.

About Revere, National Wholesale Liquidators didn't just move right in; they relocated the facade to a more centered position also remodeling the other parts of the facade. You'd never believe TRU was once there. I've never been there physically though, I had *just* missed out on the store when it was vacant (my first trip to the Boston area photographing Woburn was back in March 2006, before I knew about it when Revere was probably in its final weeks.

Thanks to Dan Fife, I've seen the current day and respective era photos of it (when it was white). It's really a shame I never got to take more extensive photos of it.
