Here's a bizarre looking Toys 'R' Us with rainbow bars and windows all over the entrance. This video is about 17 parts long and the author doesn't mention where it is.

Yonkers store opened in 1978. As you can see, the store looks like it was an original store (center entrance, old signs, side exit, building scars from the old roof facade.)

Toys "R" Us-Kids "R" Us; Horseheads, New York. This store is probably the best TRU store I've been to in YEARS as it was amazingly old-school and much unchanged. Unfortunately, the rainbow facade has been repainted to white. D-fife inspired me to take the trip, as his pictures show the facade was once rainbow (March 2006).

This store is located in Horseheads, a small town and village which houses lots of retail in Elmira. This store and the one in Johnson City (a good 50+ miles away) are the only Toys R Us stores left in Southern New York. The paint job was also [disappointingly] recent.

Horseheads, New York. A slightly different entrance as well as a sliming Geoffrey similar to ones seen on older stores but not like the one in Clay.

Horseheads, New York. A close up; I've never seen this style Geoffrey logo. Most Geoffrey logos were stripped from most stores in favor of the blue star.

Horseheads, New York. Old school, very distressed Exit Only sign. My guess is that they tried to repaint this sign.

Horseheads, New York. The road sign. It's brown! I don't think I've ever seen or remember one of these - they are extremely rare today. The sign looked marvelous!

Horseheads, New York. Let's go inside! This store had the old-school rainbow painted walls still! I almost fell on the floor in excitement when I saw this. Check out that "Toys R Us" logo painted on the walls!

Horseheads, New York. Here's a close up of the painted walls. I had the audacity to ask the manager before just shooting for this one. I snuck all my other indoor shots.

Horseheads, New York. Another special thing about this store... Kids R Us is alive and well inside! It looks and acts more like a Babies R Us but the signage is still up (not pictured here). Check out those ceilings!

Horseheads, New York. More of the painted walls. The colors on the other part of the store were the colors of Kids R Us. The red, green, blue, orange, yellow are the classic colors of Toys R Us.

Horseheads, New York. During my stay in Horseheads-Elmira, I probably took over 150 pictures of the store. I didn't get too many indoor shots (because I was quickly being watched and monitored by workers).

The manager didn't mind my taking the wall but he seemed hesitant for me get to overzealous. I did however get tons of exterior shots...

Horseheads, New York. Yes, I'm a fanatic. I revisited the store at night. I've never seen what an old-school store looked like at night. Too bad they did that lame, lazy repaint...

here is the toys r us in johnson city (just outside binghamton) new york that is east of the oakdale mall. Notice it looks to have been remodeled. It was probably remodeled 5 years ago.

It was renovated again and looks even more bland! It seems the entire store was renovated when they added Babies R Us onto the other end of the store. Not entirely sure why they did it, Kids R Us next to it is still vacant. The store is connected; you can access Babies R Us from Toys R Us

Johnson City, New York. This store was boring - inside and out. I'm really not sure why they renovate these stores making them end up looking even more lame. This one epitomizes what's wrong with TRU stores today: they lack soul.

The manager also gave me a very cold look when I was in the game department as she was watching me closely. I'm not sure if she saw me taking pictures outside, but she wasn't very nice anyway.

Danbury, Connecticut - taken tonight. I really miss the old brown look of the store. They had a bunch of chuckleheads running the store. Here's a night shot...

Here's the Toys "R" Us in Springfield, Mass.

This store is old, but kept up well. It was most likely renovated in the early 1990s given the exterior look. I think D_fife reported it was built in 1980. Kids "R" Us was added to this store after the 2003 closure.

Toys "R" Us-Kids "R" Us; Springfield, Mass. This is one of the last stores in the Southern end of Massachusetts.

Closest store in Massachusetts, formerly the now closed store at Holyoke Mall, is in Auburn, MA which is approximately 45 miles away. The closest store outside the state would be in Manchester, Connecticut or 28 miles away.

This store has brown stripes on the building sides, telling us this was in fact a brown-roof/rainbow era store at one point. During renovation, the entrance might've been moved (the other side of the wall was oddly unmatched).
