here is the Toys r us in amherst new york (a suburb north of buffalo) and it is 47,000 sq.ft. it must have been remodeled a few years ago. it is down the road from the mall and opened in maybe 1987. TOYS R US ENTERED BUFfalo the same time as rochester ny like 1985 or 1986.

Okay I know that was a long ago quote, but here's an update on the condition of toys-r-us stores in maryland.

White Flint: Kids R Us closed a couple of years ago and was a cheapo halloween store for a few months.After Halloween it liquidated. It became vacant for a while again. Then one day my mom and I drive by there and there is a huge international food store called World Market in it's place.
Strangely enough, the Toys-R-Us outlet is still there.


Germantown: I know I didn't mention this one in the previous post, but this one in the Milestone Center in Germantown Maryland is gone and was also replaced by WM. Another thing of interest is that there was never a Toys-R-Us in that shopping center. Only a Kids-R-Us.



Wheaton: Well, my mom and I drove by there a few months ago and Toys-R-Us were having a LIQUIDATION SALE! The signs in the windows when I first found out said "Final Ten Days" so I'm glad I got there before it was gone for good.The Kids-R-Us at that point had closed and was a furniture store called "England Custom Furniture Direct." I  don't get the logic behind that because the mall across the street (Westfield Shoppingtown Wheaton, but still known as Wheaton Plaza by citizens of MD)has millions of furniture stores. The Toys-R-Us had it's frame ripped out a few days after closing so they could start building a relocated Best Buy, which is supposed to be "bigger and better than the previous one.":insane:
