Hey d_fife, thanks for the info regarding the Woburn location. I'm planning a venture out there next weekend (I'm ecstatic, haven't seen a brown store in years). Do you know if any others are brown in the area? How about any New Hampshire locations? I know Nashua (2000s), and Manchester (1990s) are not brown. Also, when did you last visit Woburn's location? I'd love to see a picture of it (even though Google Maps shows that signature rippled rooftop). Thanks again d_fife, your efforts are amazing!

the one in woburn must have opened in 1978.

The one in newington was renovated in late spring / early summer 1997 (I WENT THERE AT THE TIME IT WAS) and REMODELED!!!!) and the one in south portland was remodeled the very same time!!! the one in newington and portland me are  blue with glass windows. the ones in concord, salem and nashua opened in the early 1990s and are white and the one in manchester that opened in 1981 used to be brown until summer 1992 when it was remodeled and it is white and some brown lining is on the top edge. The one in woburn is out in the middle of nowhere.

D_fife, do you know off hand if any of the stores in Massachusetts looked brown with rainbows on the front? I'm specifically wondering about the Woburn, MA store.

there are no others in mass besides woburn that are brown. the one that closed in revere had the old school style though it was cheaply repainted white from brown just before it closed and it did not have the 90s style, it had the 80s style though the brown was cheaply repainted white, like zayre88 pictuer of the bangor store and I visited the one in revere in 2002 and it looked the way I mention it. when I went to the one in bangor in 1999 the one bangor was brown.

All the other ones in mass are white except swansea and dedham. the one in dedham looks like the one in binghamton, utica and poughkeepse ny stores and the one in swansea was cheaply remodeled, where the brown was is purple and it says children's bargain palace but it is white with red letters. but the ones in framingham and hyannis has the shape of the 90s style, but it is a different color

I HAVE PICTURES OF ALL THE TOYS R US in NH And MASS and Maine and VERMONT and RHODE ISLAND, BUT I TOOK THEM WITH A REGULAR CAMERA, not a digital, and I want to digitize them.

there is a picture of the one in danbury before the renovation on pg 1 or 2. I think Toys r us started building their stores white in 1990 and and starting like 92 they were remodeling some stores. in 1996 was the switch from white to the concept 2000 (blue with glass windows look)

Wow! Amazing pic, Zayre88. I'd like to know where and when (year picture was taken) you found that superb aerial shot. I cannot wait to go there next week. I'm going to go crazy with my digital camera.

Here's a closer shot of the very aged building. d_fife thinks this was built around 1980 and I tend to agree. This store's design was like nothing I've ever seen before.

This is said to be the last brown/rainbow era Toys "R" Us in the state. This could be because of it's poor location - the store featured no road signage and is practically forgotten in the back of this plaza.

Here's the Toys "R" Us in Waterford, Connecticut on Dayton Road across from the Crystal Mall. It's located on a hill visible right off I-95 but is masked well from the road going the other way.

I took this trip recently as a friend told me it was brown only to find it is no longer (but you can tell it once was). There were brown lines on the building's side and also featured an old customer pick-up sign.

The store merged with Kids R Us. Here's a sign inside of the store with a few missing letters. Shortly after, the manager kindly ordered me not to take anymore photos... It didn't stop from sending just about every employee to follow us around the store...

Yeah my friend's girlfriend told me this one was brown just late night so I drove an hour to go see it today only to find it wasn't. Ah well. Any idea when the store remodeled?

The only other known brown stores we know of in or around New England are Clay and Horseheads in upstate New York (both 4~5 hours away from me). It was surely a shock to see an old Toys R Us again in Woburn.

What a cheap remodel on the Bangor store. By the way Zayre88, where did you find that birdseye of the Woburn store?

Here's a picture of the interior of my West Hartford Toys "R" Us. I'm pretty sure this yellow paint near the ceilings are vestige from the early days I want to remember it from.

My Kids "R" Us closed and is now an OfficeMax or Office Depot (I always get the two confused). I remember buying pajamas from there because there was a Hot Wheels car included!:dizzy: Coincidentally, there is a Toys R us right across the street from it. They remodeled a few years ago.
