The Middletown CT store is in the final process of re-modeling.

Should have its grand re-opening before Thanksgiving.

The Middletown A&P needs to get things in to perspective and face the competition. I think an 'A&P Fresh' remodel needs to happen if they want to stay competitive.

Joeg

You are correct!!  I helped open this store back in 1983 and it is sad how A&P let this store slide.  It needs a maaaajoor update if it is going to be able to compete.

Do the department signs of the Stop & Shops now being opened or remodeled look like the one in this picture, or do they look different?

This photo is from seacoastonline and it shows the store in Exeter, NH.

Vacant half of former Super Stop & Shop Bristol, CT. Store built a new location on former Bradlees site at the other end of the plaza in 2004. Other half of old S&S is a new TJ MAXX. Site was a Job Lot until January 08. Job Lot is opening in old TJ MAXX on Black Friday. Pic take 10/29/08.

Old Stop and Shop bottle return Bristol, CT. Yep it's still there. The store moved the other end of the plaza in 2004. JOB LOT and the landlord used the old bottle return for storage until 2008. Whoever leases the other half of the old Stop & Shop is gonna have to knock down the wall that seperates the former bottle return area from the rest of the store front.

No, that's the previous new look. Notice the double stoplight shape, which is absent in the new logo.

you can spot some of the new signage in the photos and this video I found, try to ignore the over smiling  and ridiculous head tilt in the video. :insane:

update:

The Waterbury Stop & Shop (which has been recently renovated to the new store design)next to Target has the new logo up on their storefront already, I spotted it as our family and I were going home from Fridays, it looks excellent, the purple "Stop & Shop" shows up nicely at night, and the sign colors stand out well, only the dark purple slice blends into the dark at night, and is hard to see. It looks excellent this logo has really changed the Stop & Shop image to me.

Went shopping at the one in the Forestville section of Bristol yesterday. Noticed they had new "Self-Scan" machines. Different even than the ones at the new (4 year old) store in Bristol.

Marc82

Went to the Southington Stop & Shop with my mom on Saturday. They now have these scan guns that you scan and bag your items as you walk through the store. (We didn't try it). They also have these new digital produce scales. You weigh your items, punch in the PLU Number and press print and it prints out a label for you. It saves the cashier from having to weigh the produce.

The store still has the old Stop & Shop Sign on the Building and on the road sign, tho the new logo is painted on the windows. New shopping carts as well.

Yes , Stop and Shop has come a long way in the last couple of years.  East Hartford S&S is getting ready for the Big Y to close next week.

I am familiar with those scan guns they're called "Easy Shop" I worked for the marketing company (through a temp agency) that was in charge of that program. Myself and 3 other people demonstrated the Easy shop system in the Newtown store in December 07 through January 08. it was a replacement for the shopping buddy.

Anybody else get a glimpse of the new Stop & Shop pharmacy logo? I did on a recent TV commercial sort of reminds me of the Medi Mart logo, it still has the mortar and pestle, but it's simplified.

Sadly the website is down for some unknown reason.:flaming:

The Stop and Shop in Clifton NJ just finished it's remodel with the new logo. It was previously an Edwards with only minor decor changes when it switched over to Stop and Shop. The store was relatively new... and HUGE. I was looking forward to seeing the new remodel and was sooooo disappointed when it was complete. Everything in the store is very white and cold looking. Departments do not have individual design treatments. The wall signage is the same style and coloring for each.  I just don't understand the new look. Most stores are going the "Fresh Market" route with warm and inviting color schemes. The new Stop and Shop look is the exact opposite.... harsh and incredibly generic. Can't understand why Stop and Shop gave up on the look in the picture that standa posted.

Also... the purple logo on the Clifton store does not read at all at night when it is lit up. You truly cannot see the name on the store. I was looking at the signage in absolute disbelief... with this store the back of the building faces Route 3. This is where you enter the shopping center. At night you cannot see the purple lettering on the store... just the logo... which still doesn't make much sense. I would not be surprised if the change the purple lettering to white... not being able to see the name of the store certainly will not help business. That's for sure.
Check it out... Acme Style!

This photo from boston.com shows the new Stop & Shop inside look.  My local store in Hamden, CT (Dixwell & Skiff) never even got to the most recent previous look.  It appears that it will get remodeled within the next few months.

On Long Island, Riverhead, Shirley, and East Islip have the new design style. It looks better with everything matching with the new design than it looks with the old design and new logo signs.

Sounds kind of like what Price Chopper recently proposed doing in Saratoga (a smaller, community store that fits with the area)

Marc82

Sounds neat. Anyway went to the one on Farmington Ave in Bristol today. A woman had scanned almost her entire order on the self-scan register when the computer crashed. The Front End Supervisor told her nothing could be done and she would have to rescan her entire order. Also I've gotta make tracks to New Britain to find out what they did with the old DD in the store.

In North Seekonk Mass, Stop and Shop took over the last remaining Ro-jaks supermarket which had taken over a very ancient Almacs. This market is smaller than the usual behemoths and actually has the new logo. Next time I am up in that area I will try and remember to take a picture.

Stop & Shop on Chase Ave., Waterbury, CT (next to Target) has been completely remodeled with new facade, new logos on the road and store. I'll get pictures soon.

Here's a brand-new Stop & Shop with the new logo in Dayville, CT in the new Killingly Commons. These are popping up in all sorts of locations (in CT: Unionville, Waterbury/Chase Ave., and Newtown) but still rare finds.

Nice photos.  The Dayville store opened a few months before the new logo  arrived.  I guess it had the old logo on its front for only a short time.
