Altmeyers, a Western PA regional chain of home, bed and bath stores, has filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy and has begun going-out-of-business sales at all stores.

This was a very popular local place for homemakers who were seeking to buy window treatments, bath accessories, pillows, and other decor items for the home.  We went to one of the closing stores yesterday and the GOOB was doing a brisk business.

We heard lots of customers (primarily female) complain that this was one of the few places left where you could go and actually LOOK at draperies, valences, and other window treatment items in-person.  Increasingly you can only buy these items online, which can strand you in an endless cycle of purchase/return when they don't fit, match, or aren't precisely what you want.
