Bed, Bath and Beyond's CEO has stepped down (likely under pressure) after the company missed sales projections by 22%.

Given that the country appears to be headed into a recession this is not encouraging for the chain's ultimate survival.  There are rumors floating that BB&B has turned-off air conditioning in stores to cut expenses.  I can't believe they turned it off, but they certainly may have utilized energy management systems to dial it back to bare minimum (Ames used to do this to us at times).
