Riverfront Ace Hardware in Amsterdam does not use their own shopping carts, rather ones picked up off the streets like the thrift stores of yesteryear. Here's an embarrassing attempt at them trying to make a current T.J. Maxx unit theirs:

I once saw True Value shopping carts being re-used at Ace Hardware.

They just rotated that cart handle upside down

Was the store formerly a True Value? Perhaps that should not come as a surprise.

I highly doubt it considering Ace has been operating at the location where I saw the shopping carts since 1956

Was there a True Value in the area? And was the handle style a bolt-on type like an old Unarco or the one where the insert is held on by screws like a United Steel & Wire product?

Here's a picture of the True Value carts inside of Ace Hardware. I took this photo in December of 2018:

(I used a Reddit link because I have no idea how image hosting works and it seems like kind of a hassle)

The photo mainly just shows the shopping cart handle but you can see the actual shopping cart used right behind said handle.

While I have departed from Reddit, those carts are certainly of the US&W or Tote style. Likely 1970s.
