Future of Ames Fan Club

So I presume we all see the banner headline that this domain will expire on Aug. 1.
It appears that part of it may have already expired as the animation on the homepage
now displays a 404 error.

I know some similar websites which have run Go Fund Me campaigns to pay for
their domain space.  Anyone interested in doing this?  I am not techie enough to be
the point man but I'd be willing to kick in.

That is something I'd like to see happen. Despite how I only registered my account a couple years ago, I still think it would be a shame if this website went away.

I offered a while back to take over the forum and integrate it with my Kmart World/Retail World websites but never got a response.

I don't know anything about the hierarchy here; I can only say, it would be a crying shame to lose the collected information archived here. I once was an active participant in another forum (unrelated to retail) and many of us had contributed quite a bit of work to it, with some very detailed posts...and then one day it was all gone. I wonder: how good is the "wayback machine" for things like that? (Haven't played with it much?)

Is this similar to the problem that occurred a few months ago? I remember the site being offline for a few days and I assumed the domain expired and just had to be renewed.

What needs to be done is get as much of this site archived as quickly as possible if it can be done and in the event the domain expires quickly get it Re-registered under new ownership.

The Ames Fan Club and it's forums can be resurrected in the future in the event this site goes down.

And no offense, but I can't take that USA store wiki seriously due to the amount of fictional information. This one would be more appropriate for actual retail.

I understand that we like to talk about real retail happening around here rather than the fictional retail happening like an alternate universe in where Amazon is playing second fiddle to good old brick and mortar retail. At least we have two options available to us on Fandom  (formerly known as Wikia).

At least we have two options available to us on Fandom  (formerly known as Wikia).

I'm already there making edits and adding retailers (I'm currently doing Ocean State Job Lot) as a way of expanding the Malls and Retail wiki.
