Hey! List the past tenants of local stores in your area here. For example:

In my area--

Big Lots--originally Phar-Mor, then a Books-a-Million from about 1994-1999

Macy's--Maas Brothers, then Burdines from about 1989-2004, then Burdines-Macy's

Dillard's--Maison Blanche until about 1989

(BTW, is this the proper forum to be posting this topic under?)

OK - I'm here to help (well....) Changes/notes in () below original posts

In Albany:

Woolworth#1(Central Ave) ----> vacant I think
(Some type of office space - was a McCrory $ for a short time)

Woolworth #4 (Menands)----> Not sure
(A Family Dollar in part - I believe the other part is still empty)

Service Merchandise #1 (Wolf Road) ----> Now a new store(not sure of the name) (me either)

Carl's(local Capital Region chain) #1 (State Street Schenectady)----> vacant
(but part of this is to become a small theatre as part of the Proctor's renovations)

Carl's #3 (Schenectady(Rotterdam(Shoporama Plaza))) ----> Not sure of its status
(Which one is Shoporama? If the one on Curry Rd that is a vacant (and has been for a long time) if at the corner of Curry & Altamont Ave the plaza was added onto for a new Price Chopper so no idea where it was - if on Altamont Avenue who knows - a couple things were completely demolished and others reconfigured)

Caldor #5 (East Greenbush) ----> Later became Ames. Now vacant.
(Actually the Ames was built from scratch - wasn't a Caldor there at all - as a matter of fact the whole center is probably only about 20 yrs old +/- a couple)

Bradlee's #4 (Troy(Route 4)) ----> Now a new Price Chopper
(on the site - Bradlees actually ran perpendicular to Rt 4 while Price Chopper is parallel)

Grand Union #7 (Guilderland) ----> now a Price Chopper
(and of course the former Price Chopper just up the road (opposite side) is still vacant)

Grand Union #9 (Troy) ----> vacant(was a Salvation Army for 3 years)
(May I add that the other GU in Troy {directly across from the Plaza with former Ames now Big Lots} is medical offices - this one closed many years ago)

Add :
Grand Union #11 (Schodack) ----> still vacant
Grand Union #12 (East Greenbush) --->demolished in expansion of Walmart to SuperCenter
Grand Union #13 (Schagticoke) ---> still vacant
Grand Union #14 (Ravena) ---> Now Best Yet Market (owned by GU parent company, but set up similar to Aldi's, SaveALot etc.
Grand Union #15 (Bennington VT) --> Now Tractor Supply Co.
Grand Union #16 (Valatie), #17 (Hoosick Falls), #18 (Coxsackie) and about 15-20 others  ---> Still Operating

Ames #5 (Saratoga) ----> Now a Dollar Tree and an Eckerd(I think).
(This was also the Kmart {if you are referring to the store on Rt 50} before the SuperK (now closed also) was opened.)

W.T Grant #1 (Central Avenue) ----> Now a Price Chopper(I think)

Thanks for your help man! I coud've sworn there was a Caldor in East Greenbush..heh. Also, in those additions for Grand Unions at the bottom, only #12 is appropriate for the list I have. Sorry man, but I'm only doing Albany area listings. But, that's ok, I can leave it..heh. If you want, I can edit my post with all of that info you sent me. Thanks again!
