Three former branded car dealerships now used car dealerships.

Executive Kia - 856 North Colony Road Wallingford, CT is now Apple Auto Wholesalers.

Executive Kia - Built a new dealership at 1164 North Colony Road next to their sister dealership Executive Honda.

Colony Ford - 1187 East Main Street Meriden, CT is now a J.D. Byrider Franchise. Just opened last week.

Colony Ford closed several years ago when many Ford and Chevy dealers closed.

Family Ford - 1200 Wolcott Road Waterbury, CT is now Apple Auto Wholesalers. Opened recently

Family Ford merged with Shaker's Ford in Watertown several years ago.

Meanwhile while these 3 are being re-used, the former Chic Miller Chevy in Bristol, CT on Route 69 is still sitting abandoned, deteriorating, and being an eyesore.

A lot of this occurred in 2009 after the government bailed out GM and Chrysler, and drastically
pared down their dealer networks.

Suzuki also voluntarily withdrew from the U.S. market.  Mitsubishi may be next.

The hardest hit stretch I come across is on Newfield Street in Middletown. Town & Country had 3 large dealerships which all shuttered around 8 years ago when the owner passed away. One still sits empty to this day. Holley Dodge was s victim of the consolidation movement. Schaller Subaru moved their dealership into Berlin, and an independent dealer also recently went belly up. All these dealers were within a 2 mile stretch from one another.

Here are a few that I can think of right now:

There were two at 16600 Fort Street, Southgate, MI: First was Walt Hickey Ford, who moved as Walt Oben Ford to the current dealership at 16501 Fort Street in 1992 and is now Southgate Ford. 16600 Fort Street soon became Saturn of Southgate and lasted until the brand went under. Now it's Michigan Vehicle Solutions, who moved into that space at least a couple years ago.

Century Dodge, 13500 Telegraph Road, Taylor, MI: A victim of the 2009 mass closures. After Century Dodge closed, Telegraph Chrysler-Jeep just up Telegraph Road began selling Dodges. Later Century Sales and a Sears auto center, now Taylor Ford, which relocated from a mile-and-a-half north.

Rowan Pontiac-GMC, 15800 Eureka Road, Southgate, MI: Now the Zubor Automotive Service Center.

Thompson Chrysler-Plymouth, Fort and Quarry, Southgate, MI: Closed mid-1990's, later something else, torn down early 2000's for a credit union that moved from up Fort Street in Wyandotte (now Zeal Credit Union).

What happened to Chic Miller? Here in Tampa, Bob Wilson Dodge, a huge Dodge dealer, closed. Now it is abandoned, and the site on Florida Ave is for sale...another dealer  is now a JD  Byrider...
