Joan Rivers, 81 passed away today. She was a comedienne, author, and host of The Fashion Police and Red Carpet Shows on E! She coined the phrase "Who are you wearing?" during the Red Carpet Shows on E! She also attended Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut in the 50s when it was an all-woman's college.

Don't forget that she also hosted the very first original program ever aired on the Fox network-although that one was rather short-lived and controversial.

Find a book titled Outfoxed by Alex Ben Block.  It is all about the founding and early years of the Fox TV Network.

Much of the book is devoted to Joan Rivers.  She was apparently one of the world's worst employees.
Fox executives had nothing but headaches trying to manage her.  Apparently she would stage frequent
sick-outs when she was not getting her way.  When Fox inserted a young fill-in host named Arsenio Hall
during one of her sick-outs, they were flabbergasted to find that their ratings actually went up!
Apparently they did not need to put up with Joan's nonsense after all.  The next time she called in sick they
invoked a clause in the boilerplate of her contract that gave them the right to send her to their doctor.
When she refused they fired her.

All in all, still a sad story.   Her husband committed suicide during the time she was on Fox.
What a sad way for Melissa to lose her parents.
