You don't really hear about Chuck E Cheese closing stores. How often have they closed down stores? I know the one in Southington, CT closed. It was located in what is now Shoprite Plaza in space most recently occupied by Bernie's. It wasn't open very long. Maybe about 5 years in the mid-late 1980s.

The one here in Albany (Colonie actually) did that quite some time ago.

They closed the existing restaurant (which was in the building in front of then Northway Mall) and reopened some time later (at least a couple years - forgotten just how long) over in Latham Farms (which is a few miles away, but still part of the town of Colonie and also adjacent to a Northway exit - 6 rather than 2 where Northway Mall is).

It was similar to the first post (an issue with the leasing of the space they occupied at the time).  That spot (along with 1 of 2 others in the building) fairly quickly became one of the early Staples in the area - so probably Staples was willing to put up more $ than Chuck E Cheese was.
