Got some more info on new Price Choppers in Connecticut.

Durham CT is set to open by the end of the year.   I talked to a vendor today, and his supervisor lives in Haddam and the store is almost set to open.  It may go by the name of Central Market and probably would not have pharmacy.

Other then Storrs/Willimantic area, they will be/are building a store in the Stonington area.

A few Price Chopper stores in northeastern PA opened as Acme Super Saver. The stores became just Acme, then were sold to a local market called Insalaco's, then were sold to Bi-Lo, and finally Price Chopper. They were remodeled several times.

Where is this Durham Store gonna be? I talked to someone from Price Chopper yesterday and he said Durham was DOA.

Right off of Route 17. You take a right off of 17 and it is about maybe a mile down the road.  I am not sure if it is on the right or left.

People at the Windsor store are definate that it is there. Once again a vendor told me it is almost ready to open.

I am going to take a ride down soon.

Today's Hartford Courant today said that Price Chopper is set to opening in Middletown CT!!

Marc82

Yeah and looks like what i said I had heard on the radio about Durham being a dead deal was true.

Like I said before, A&P needs to realize they have big competition and update their Washington Street store. They won't last if they don't. Now they have Stop and Shop, Aldi, and Price Chopper. Didn't the Middletown S&S remodel?

wwefan101

The 2 Price Choppers I have shopped have the "food court" area.  I like the set up fo the Southington Ct one better than newingtons, but they do sell the pizza, chicken (whole roasted plus other variations like wings and fried) The food is actually very good.  They get alot of business from the employees on break, they also have a salad bar and a hot food bar as well.

wwefan101

they got 2 new  things fo the chickens to roast in   wacthing the chickens spin is amuseing  so i guse this is ther version of a food court  .  im sure thers going to be more updates for this store

momof3

Yes they have that here.

wwefan101

Marc82

The 1 Hour Photo Lab at the Southington Price Chopper is closing on May 10th.

Marc82

They also got rid of the hot food bar at the Southington Price Chopper.

momof3

How about the taco/salad bar?????I havent been to the Southington store in a while, but the Newington stores hot food bar has been about 1/2 empty the last few times.

Marc82

The salad bar is still there.

Price Chopper's first "Green" store opened in Colonie NY, replacing one of their first "modern" supercenters which opened in 1987.

If you turn in your Shaw's Rewards Card at the Bristol, CT Price Chopper they will give you 20 cents off your gas on your Price Chopper Advantage Card. This is until August 8th only.

The article appeared only in the Print Edition of the July 25th Bristol Press.

Hmmm...that's an interesting gimmick. First I've heard of anything like that. I assume this is supposed to imply turning in your Shaw's card permanently?

We don't have Price Chopper up here so I know very little about them...I've never been in one.

wwefan101

ha i whould never turn my shaws card in shaws some times has  beter sales then pc but  pc is still the best store

TRJ22487

Err....I have like 5 different Shaws cards. Wish they were doing that here. That PC gas deal is awesome as it is.

wwefan101

yup pc has the best the most we ever saved tough shaws is 25 cents

TRJ22487

Most I've gotten was 1.70 off through my mom (it came to 1.19 a gallon i believe), so it gets pretty good if you keep earning.

Sorry about the night shot
This ancient Price Chopper is in Windsor, Vermont.
Look at how tiny it is!
Yes, the whole store is in the picture
An equally sized Family Dollar is the other anchor
