Bloom
"A different kind of grocery store"

Bloom is owned by Food Lion, the Delhaize Group company's headquarter is in  Salisbury, North Carolina. Food Lion open Bloom in 2004, its a upscale grocery model. The concept is based on the idea of using a slightly unconventional layout to maximize shopper convenience. When the stores first debuted, Bloom was dubbed with the phrase "A Food Lion Market". However, upon further market research, the company decided to remove the phrase and distance itself from the Food Lion image altogether. The current service-mark was replaced with the slogan "A Different Kind of Grocery Store".

Bloom looks unlike any grocery store you've ever seen: from the moment you pull up in the parking lot, to the second the door swishes open, you know that you are about to enjoy a completely new shopping experience. Then, once you're inside, you will soon notice that everything is different. The lighting, the layout, even the staff. It's warm, it's friendly, it's inviting. The associates want to help you. They smile. They clearly want you to feel at home. It's then that you begin to believe, that Bloom really is unlike anything you've ever experienced, so come in and Shop Happy.

As of May 2007, there were 53 Bloom stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland and Virginia.[3] However, with the Food Lion "market renewal" in progress, this number is increasing as various Food Lion stores are converted to Bloom as needed.

The Bloom is off in North and South Carolina, with all but one location to convert to the Food Lion banner (the remaining location will close.)
