That's it for Clarence! The lights are still on, but no one is home.

TRU's conduct before and during bankruptcy could be a game-changer for retailers that declare Chapter 11 - and not in a good way

This seems like a different kind of antitrust suit.

whatll happen when the NEXT RETAILER IS BANKRUPT? and I now doubt the reboot will work as Toys r us has burned bridges with people now.

Not sure that would matter, since anyone "rebooting" the company now wouldn't be the same person(s) that were in charge previously.  Thus no reason to have a problem with them based on what someone else did.

The rebooting of a brand worked for brands like Montgomery Ward and Service Merchandise work because of their brand recognition. I'm pretty sure it would be the same if Toys "R" Us were to be brought back. At least Toys "R" Us' new all-Canadian ownership in North America is helping them survive.

Private equity funds KKR and Bain Capital are creating a $20 million fund to make
severance payments to laid-off employees of Toys R Us.

In the retail industry this is virtually unprecedented.

what will be done next?

Supposedly a method will be devised to distribute the money to former
Toys R Us employees.

The demise of Toys R Us is taking a serious bite out of the U.S. Marine Corps
Toys for Tots program.

Donation boxes in 800 stores and $5 million in corporate donations are hard to replace.
