Dick's acquiring Foot Locker for $2.4 billion

Dick's Sporting Goods is acquiring Foot Locker for $2.4 billion.

Dick's intends to continue to operate Foot Locker locations as stand-alone brands.  This apparently includes Champs Sports (which is interesting as that is a direct competitor).

This deal represents the final, final end to an old-school American retailer, Woolworths.  After divesting their big box stores and five-and-dimes Woolworths in the U.S. kept shoe locations and rebranded itself as Foot Locker.
