Yeah, I might show them sometime, but the real prize was obviously the first-gen one in Waco. You DID enjoy them, right?

And please, please, post it here:
http://thecaldorrainbow.blogspot.com/2007/11/slew-of-left-behind-toys-r-us-stores.html

I don't know when the store opened, but it would go something like this.

WACO, Texas

Opened: Unknown

Brown Roof: Yes

Rainbow Stripes: Yes

Road Sign: Unknown*

Contains: Kids R Us co-brand store

* Check on Microsoft Live Maps

WAco opened in 1986

I am bothered how close I was to missing the one in Savannah GA as a brown Toy sr us, I went there the day after they were starting renovations and renovations lasted 4 months, how close was I to missing it?????????????????????? and upset at how I missed the one in Topeka

find more brown Toys r us please, that I may not know about. why are they near gone. I am going to the one in Bosie next summer, is that a gem?

Store signage of the Toys R Us express store. These temporary location opened up for the 2009 holiday shopping season. Most if not all of these locations have since closed.
These location were a huge asset to the shopping malls since most malls are void of a toy store now.
There is a lot in store for you where clean, fresh and good make a GRAND UNION.

add the other Brown TOys r us finds I had (From page 67 and 68) on to your list of current retro Toys r us (Ie the ones I posted of in Dallas Tx, Brookfield WI, Oceanside Cali, the vacant one i Found in San Jose CA that got relocated, North Miami Beach Fl, Charleston Sc, Grand Rapids Mi, Augusta SC). one of the two in Albequerque NM has an old school look but the roof was repainted blue and the stripes were removed, I dont remember if I posted it. I did go to the one in WAco

and it bothers me how close I was to missing the one in Savannah ga as old school as I got there the day after it was starting its 4 month renovation into a Babies r us combo and how close was I to missing the brown roof do you think, The renovation started June 15 and I went there 2 days later and the renovation finished 4 months later (mid October). how close was I?
and I am bothered by missing the Topeka one

is the one in Bosie IDaho old school, really?

and is there a old school one in Washington state????? why are all the ones in NYc, Phili and DC remodeled? thats sacrilege. or any other old School ones in Calif and or Texas? or any others in Florida?

Toys R Us in Clay NY as of this winter. Inside got a small remodel only with R Market. The ticket pull video games and old interior still exists.  I hope this store never gets remodeled.

I still want to know why the one in Nashua didnt open until early 1991 when Nashua is a major city in NH (though the mall opened in 1986), why didnt it open in teh 1980s (could it have been due to Child World being tehre, but that was in another part of NAshua), Why didnt it open in Denver and Salt Lake City till 1990 why they didnt enter Vermont until 1996 and why didnt they enter Charleston WEst Virginia until 1996 (late 1996) when they had 2 (in Huntington and Clarksburg) open in 1988 and opene in PArkersburg open in the early 1990s. why they didnt enter LYnchburg Virginia until the 1990s.

and find more brown stores. and I am still upset of the Topeka one. why do they have to remodel the store when they put Babies r us in?

why Did Toys r us build some of their 1990s ones as smaller stores, like I went to one in Rome GA 3 weeks ago and it was very small.

do any of you have any old pictures of TOys r us that you can post and or find?

I went to Toys r us in WOburn yesterday and saw that its getting remodeled, they started interior work and they said the store inside and out will be remodeled and they are adding a Babies r us

go before its too late

any future Brown Toys r us trip I go, if the flight gets canceled I will be very angry, I flew to the one in North Miami beach last August on a weekend on my days off of work and the flight had mechanical problems and they put the plane out of service and put us on a new one and it how close was my flight to getting canceled and if it was? I Was leaving late Friday night as the flight was in Logan and I was scheduled to return Sunday night early monday, how much of my trip would I have lost, but it would ahve gotten to a point where I would have wanted my trip to be another time if I knew in advance how much I would lose.

d_fife

they are also putting a Babies r us in the TOys r us in NAshua

they already have a Babies r us 6 miles away

why did Toys r us wait until 1991 to put a store in NAshua?

they are putting a BAbies r us in the Toys r us in Albany when they have a BAbies r us in Latham, I read of it here. http://albany.bizjournals.com/albany/stories/2010/03/01/daily4.html

Sad news about Woburn, MA -- that was the first old-school one I revisited back in April 2006 when it still had the rainbow front. I was bummed when they painted it blue in late 2007. I last saw it in Summer 2009 and I suppose I'm not too surprised it's finally getting remodeled. When I saw earlier that year in March 2009 (upon a trip to the Boston area), I noticed the "new" road sign and suspected a remodel or something planned was around the corner. I suppose it's about time -- though that store is still in such a weird location for a TRU. Definitely brings you back to a time before the company put stores near/across regional shopping malls...

I'm very glad to have my (many) pictures of it -- that store was a real oldie too! I think it's one of the oldest stores in the country leftover from the late 70s that hadn't been butchered.

Also, cool to see the pic of Swansea, MA. I wanted to visit that one numerous times but I knew it had been slightly remodeled so I never went for it.
All submitted photos were taken by myself unless stated otherwise.

Here's a close up of the former sign. Toys R Us used to be here, now it's a Price Chopper.

And now that sign is going to waste. Shoprite bought out the Waterbury Price Chopper and now that sign is just black.  :-(

all day I have been down about the Toys r us;' in Woburn and Roanoke

(but I am sure many of the leftover ones will stay that way) and how when I went to Miami (that had a Brown Toys r us on the trip and I ahd looked forward tos eeing that city all year) last summer the flight had mechanical problems and was pushed back and the plane was then out of service and thy put us on another plane, What bothers me was that something was threatening me seeing that place the flight could have gotten canceled and the flight was full and it was a FRIDAY Night and I was to return Sunday and if thy canceled the flight that would be interfering with something I had waited for all year and seeing a old school Toys r us, as would they have put me on a flight the next morning? I hope so, as if they couldnt get me tehre till say around 4 or 5 the day before I went home,  I would have to reschedule the trip and if there was a fee I would argue as I dont want to go somewhere that will be a waste of my time.
