Great pictures, Dan! It's been a while. I'm most excited about that one in Augusta, GA -- it hasn't been touched at all! If you look at that one on Bing Maps, you can see it was poorly placed behind a shopping plaza. It's wonderful how it still has the stripes!

According to the assessor, it's listed at 1509 Capp St. not 3435 Wrighstown Road as it's listed on the website and was built in 1985.

and what do you think of the pic of the one in Grand Rapids?
are there any other "left behind Toys r us" we dont know about and how do you feel soon Tallahasee will be on the chopping block? as it appears its getting renovated and it had a storm in July and was closed down due to it, it was temporarily closed look at this link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ferret111/page2/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/ferret111/3927192336/

find me more left behind ones I dont know of.
And add the Toys r us' I post to the left behind ones! and what do you think of the ones I posted? like North Miami Beach Florida, Brookfield, Dallas, Waco, Charleston, August and Grand Rapids.

the pic I show is the same one of that one in Grand Rapids Michigan. that looks untouched and was built 20 years ago from this year!

Here's an old-school Toys R Us sign I stumbled across in Nanuet, NY. It's far behind the store, on W. Nyack Road. Taken today (10-17-2009).

Yeah Dan that store in Grand Rapids, MI is amazing! Nothing changed at all -- reminds me of the Clay, NY store which is hopefully still the same as I saw it back in 2007.

Did you have a chance to see the vacant one in Battle Creek, MI? I'm not sure if it's still there...

You should check out the one across from Granite Run Mall near Philadelphia.

Dan, when did you visit the Grand Rapids, MI location? I was wondering if it still looks like this today.

Clay is still indeed much the same, thankfully. I was out to the Syracuse area as I am every September and April, and I went up to the Great Northern Mall(only reason I go is to get a blizzard at the Dairy Queen, check the cool Collectibles store, and of course, to see if the Toys "R" Us hasn't been mutilated. A very boring mall otherwise.), and sure enough, there she was in all her glory. Didn't get a chance to snap a picture this time. But I have tons anyway. :)

I think there may still be a brown (but not 3-pointed roof style) TRU in Clarksburg, WVA.  It's in a shopping centre with a Kmart, Panera, KFC, former JCPenney, and a few other establishments that I can't remember.

I looked into this. There's a Toys R Us in nearby Bridgeport, but doesn't look to be an old one. That plaza with Kmart doesn't contain a Toys "R" Us -- maybe it once did?

The Toys r us is near the mall and it doesnt look old, but was remodeled, but the outside signs are the same as it was. I bet it opened in 1988 as thats when the mall it was built near opened.

look at this vacant Toys r us near Atlanta that moved in 2001 or 2002

look: http://www.bing.com/maps/#JnE9eXAuJTJiK2dhbGxlcnkrYXQrc291dGgrZGVrYWxiKyUyYithdGxhbnRhK2dhJTdlc3N0LjAlN2VwZy4xJmJiPTMzLjg2MzU3MzgxNDI1MzUlN2UtODQuMDkwNzI4NzU5NzY1NiU3ZTMzLjM5ODE5ODgyNTE0OTglN2UtODQuODk4MjIzODc2OTUzMQ==

and keep looking its old school. they may put a police pricint in and I fear that will make the store lose its old look

Here it is on Google Street View. It's actually in Decatur, GA (near Atlanta). It's likely still there today but the street view is updated from the Bing Maps picture. They removed both road signs and "Entrance" sign since. Looks like the "Exit Only" sign is still there...

Here's a formerly old-school store with a repainted roof and white stripes. Here it was back in early 2006 via Bing Maps -- it is no longer there and is home now to Castle Furniture.

Geoffrey has been removed from the Woburn, MA store! Surprisingly, still not remodeled! Taken today (9-26-09).

That is an ugly paintjob.

Right. First the blue-painted stripes, then the death of Geoffrey. Only this brown roof reminds the early years. Sad for Woburn.

Let me tell you something about the stores in germany.

The very first TRU-store in germany opened 1987. Already the last years of the brown roofes and the colorful stripes. Only a few of the 13 new stores of 1987-1989 had that old-school look.
Between 1990 and 2000, another 36 stores opened. The facades were unspectular in this period. Just the Geoffrey made it more attractive. I have used the word "made", cause nowadays, only 2 stores still carry Geoffrey of the mid-90s. Older ones were removed.
All stores, opened 2000 or later, got the blue-R signage and the modern look of today´s stores.

Here´s a timeline of germany:

1986:
Toys "R" Us came to germany. The first stores were opened one year later.

1987:
Koblenz: first store of germany. Brown roof, rainbow stripes and older Geoffrey. Link: Thumbnail-Pic. This store was also the first victim of concept2000. A blue wall with the newer logo has covered the brown roof. You can see the brown roof only via "birds eye view" now.

Kaiserslautern: looks like a huge parking garage to me, no old-school things at all. Just a "Toys "R" Us" outside.

Wallau: remodeled.

Essen: no informations yet.

1988:
Cologne I: similiar to the one in Kaiserslautern, but this one had a brown roof, which is covered by concept2000, sadly.

Hagen: remodeled. The only one in germany, that I know, with a TRU-pylon on a street.

Kamen: may had brown roof. Remodeled.

1989:
Nürnberg: remodeled.

Augsburg. closed in Jan 2009. It got the concept2000 in 2006.

Ulm: the first one closed in 2002. This one had a brown roof, which was painted white in 2003 when a supermarket settled in. Two older Geoffreys were on the roof.
Another one opened downtown in 2003.

Bremen: has a brown roof and even colorful stripes (as of 2005). A round-shaped geoffrey-signage of the late 90s exists there. (Prototype of concept2000?). I hope, this is still in the same facade like 1989. Link: bird´s eye view

Hamburg I: the brown roof was painted in blue. About 40% of the former sale area belongs to a supermarket now. There has never been a Geoffrey.

Aachen: had two(!!) roofs. Link: birds eye view. I don´t know why two roofs. concept2000 now.

Bielefeld: closed. May had a brown roof.

1990:
Osnabrück: no informations yet.

Bochum: remodeled in the late 90s with a yellow star and a blue backwards "R". No brown roof or Geoffrey.

Neuss: remodeled to concept2000 around 2001. May had a brown roof, even may had the very last brown roof ever.

Heidelberg: had a round geoffrey-signage like Bremen (1989). Remodeled around 2005-2006.

Hope you enjoyed the first part. I will do part 2/6 of TRU germany soon.
Comments are welcome. ^__^

Sure, my next parts 2-5 will be made soon.
The last brown roof store (even with the rainbow stripes) might be Bremen. I´ll contact someone who lives near Bremen as soon as possible, in hope the brown roof still exists.
Such bird´s eye views are at least 4 years old.

I´m not really sure. I thought such brown roofs were built until the late 80s. That´s why my first part was of 1987-1990, the last years of the brown roofs and rainbow stripes.

I don´t even think about the closed ones, which the "oldest" of them was built in 1992.

Fact is, seven years ago, it was an aim here, to change all the stores into a concept2000-style. A few survived (geoffrey on the roof).

this will be a tense moment of the outcome of you calling the person

and I am still upset of that brown Toys r us in Topeka becoming the ToyS R us Babies r us Combo, but do you think its possible there was a cheap remodel as thats a smaller market (topeka has 122,000 people and the area has 228,000 people). I HOPE SO
