Was down that way on a rainy day and spotted the labelscar on the side of the building.  Figured for sure it was something before Kmart but wasn't sure what.  I think it may have been a Woolco in a past life but can't confirm.

The Bradlees in the South (Delaware included) closed in the 80's. They didn't last long, so it could have been a Woolco.

Which is amazing if those really closed back in the 80's...

The Walmart opened in summer 2002, not 2003.

Kmart used to (YEARS ago) list the year the store opened with the addresses in their store locator.  Those two I linked were opened in 1988 or 1989 I believe, so figure Bradlees didn't last more than 4 or 5 years in Delaware.

How long ago did they list the year?

There was also an Almart/Jefferson Ward/Bradlees at Concord Mall in Wilmington. It was demolished for a Sears in 1992.

Anyone remember the Bradlees in Newington, NH that was part of this mall?:



I used to go there all the time with my mom when I was a kid. I loved it there, and would do a lot of clothing shopping there during elementary school. Then, after we had picked out my jeans and sweaters, she would drag me to the linen section (especially during the store's huge white sales) and I would whine and drag my feet and she searched through the shelves of sheets and comforters. I think we still have some plastic comforter bags that have old Bradlees price stickers on them.

Out of the big three of Bradlees, Ames, and Caldor, I think I'd have to say that Bradlees was my favorite. I was so sad when they turned the Newington location into a Kohl's.

That was a very sad day this spring when I drove up there and a giant Lowes was sitting on the former JM Fields/Bradlees store location.:hurt:

This one was in Chelsea, MA. It's Home Depot now.
