In addition it is being reported that 8 locations are being sold to a former executive who intends to operate them as a franchisee.

TGI Fridays abruptly shuttered another 50 locations.  Analysts are expecting that the chain will follow Red Lobster into bankruptcy.

TGI Fridays did indeed file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
They were able to secure debtor-in-possession financing which will keep the
remaining restaurants operating for now.

TGI Fridays in my neighborhood has shut down suddenly and without warning.

The location is next to the de-malled Village Square Mall in Bethel Park, in front of a Home Depot location that was formerly Hills.  It appears this was done in great haste as the signs are still up, posters for various promotions are still in the windows, there is still outdoor furniture all over the patio seating area, the cloth awnings are still up, and a peek inside the window shows pretty much everything in the restaurant has been left in place.

Sad as I liked their outdoor seating area and it was a great place to grab a cold beer after work.
