The new incarnation of the XFL kicks-off their inaugural season on Feb. 8.

Like the prior XFL it is the brainchild of Vince McMahon and World Wrestling Entertainment.
Unlike the prior version though this time McMahon is vowing to play it straight (i.e. no crazy rules
where 2 players fight over a ball to determine opening possession instead of tossing a coin, no
wrestling announcers picking fights with coaches, etc.).  The league will play a ten week season
culminating in one round of playoffs and a championship game.

The teams are:

The Dallas Renegades
The Houston Roughnecks
The Los Angeles Wildcats
The D.C. Defenders
The New York Guardians
The St. Louis Battlehawks
The Seattle Dragons
The Tampa Bay Vipers

Somewhat amazingly (given how bad the first XFL was) they've managed to get all of their
games televised on widely viewed networks, with the schedule being split across ABC, ESPN,
Fox and FS1.

Some of the teams are playing in NFL stadiums.   D.C. and L.A. are playing in MLS soccer stadiums.
Houston is playing in a college stadium, and Dallas is playing in Globe Life Park, a baseball stadium
just abandoned by the Texas Rangers.   St. Louis is playing in the dome that was formerly home to
the NFL's Rams.

The Tampa Bay Vipers have just about the ugliest uniforms I've ever seen!
When they take the field the color green is having it's worst day since my
1971 Pontiac Ventura died.
