Retail Regents

Apart from that odd large cart with a Creative Wire badge, here are some other finds. The Schenectady OSJL is the location that keeps on giving.

There is (with a quick search) a Walt's Food Centers (https://www.waltsfoods.com/) with 5 stores in IL and one in IN, but no clue if the one cart (where it looks like they took something off the handle but forgot to look at the plastic seat where the name is quite clear) came from this chain or elsewhere.

And looking at the most recent pictures of the stores (taken by ordinary people), the shopping carts in the background have dark powder-coated frames and bright red trim, and seat flaps donning four-picture diagrams, which indicate their fleets were upgraded.

Now this? Found at the Troy, NY store.

Schenectady is always a goldmine of the most absurd carts you wouldn't find anywhere else isn't it? Apart from a large influx of ancient ALDI Foods units, here are even more old decrepit wire carts they got:

Retail Regents

Precision 444V, Market Basket.

Retail Regents

Technibilt 3440, possibly ex-Grand Union. The front of the child seat had no warning label, so I couldn't tell if it actually was ex-GU or something similar.

Retail Regents

United Steel & Wire cart from 2003 at the Albany store. Original retailer unknown.

The Schenectady now has a set of these. Apparently the original logos were filed off on all of them.

Wonder if they just moved them when the Albany store was closed down?

Seems logical that Schenectady is one of the closest to where the Albany store was (the other would be Troy by HVCC, but they have blue carts that seem to be all similar).

Could be, and more.

As far as Troy's carts, I'm sure they still have the Toys R Us carts. The other (slightly smaller) blue ones I believe were former Christmas Tree Shops units.

Went to the Troy store today. Yes, those blue Christmas Tree Shops ones were there (of course bearing Ann & Hope labeled handles), as well as some smaller blue Rehrigs that were original Ann & Hope (Outlet) carts and an all-plastic Toys R Us SuperCart. And you can easily guess where the orange one came from.

Guess I should actually look at their carts once in a while ;)
(Seem to usually just grab a small basket when I am there).

Quite interesting that they got some from Ann & Hope (though maybe being in that area it makes sense, and/or they are in a building(s) that that chain was once in, also a possibility).

It is more of a geographical thing. Whenever I find a cart from a defunct retailer, the store I find it in was never that retailer. The ex-CTS/A&H cart has the serial number "ST40893" on the bottom. Perhaps the last two digits are the year it was made?

P.S. The big green United Steel & Wire carts shown several threads ago are ex-Pat Catan's units. While the logos were filed off, I was able to piece together the first three letters through the file job on one of the logo panels (PAT).

Retail Regents

Black United with Ann & Hope stickers underneath the OSJL ones. As much as I want to say this was originally from Linens 'n Things, this one has a powder-coated frame while theirs were chromed.
