Inside One of the Last VHS Rental Stores in America

Nestled in the quiet town of Chatham, New York, is Video Visions, one of the last-remaining video stories in America. Steven Campbell opened Video Visions in 1984 with Jim Donovan. At the time, they had just 200 titles. Now, they have over 26,000 that customers can rent for a few bucks a day. In addition to a plethora of DVDs, the store still stocks VHS tapes, as well as VCRs to play them.

While no longer around, this same town had two grocery stores into the later parts of the 1990's that were quite unusual as well.

One was an independent in a former Finast, that store is now a Rite Aid (to be Walgreens) and is somewhat smaller than a standard newly built Rite Aid.

The other (in the main street, about a block from the video store across the rail tracks) was run by Price Chopper under their Mini Chopper branch, as it was a former A&P and had about 4 aisles!

Grand Union finally built a newer store down the road, but even that one was around 25,000 Sq. Ft. (not overly large by that time) and that one was open (under Price Chopper) until about 2 years ago.
