Womens' Luge

I was flipping around my sports channels over the weekend when I came upon a telecast
of Womens' Luge.

I was quite intrigued by it.  I just could not figure out what would make these
bright, attractive young women want to lie down on a Flexible Flyer and hurl themselves
down a bobsled track at 80 MPH.

At some point when they were growing up I presume they had to go to their parents
and say, "Mom, Dad, I want to Luge!"  

I wonder how THAT conversation went?   ???

The track was lined with ads for online betting sites.
