Unsure why the Concord locations remains open in the dying Steeplegate mall.

I was at the Manchester store in January 2018 and it was a sad display of empty shelves and poorly displayed scarce merchandise.

I went in the SEars in Manchester at times in the last year and it was like a Ghost Town and dingy! I could tell!    Why dont Concord close, thats not far behind.

Not surprised the Sears in Manchester is closing. I went in last year and I walked around the whole store (it’s a pretty large Sears) and there were legit 5 people in the whole store. And it was during the day. There was only ONE cash wrap in the whole store that was open, and the girl was on her phone texting. The appliance section only had like half the lights on and looked closed. Also you’re right about the merchandise! It looks like no one really cleans the displays! The parking lot was pretty empty too compared to all of the other lots at the mall.

I went in the Concord NH Sears at the same time last year as well, and that one seemed busier than the Manchester one, but not by much! I noticed they stock a lot of items at that store compared to other Sears I’ve been in. It was the only “busy” store in that mall. There were like 3 stores holding going out of business sales when I was in that mall last, including Olympia Sports which is right at the entrance of Sears.

The Nashua NH Sears seems like the busiest Sears I’ve been in. It’s really large and they keep the store clean and stocked well. I’m sure that one will be one of the last to close. I know Sears real estate company Seritage Growth Properties has the Nashua Sears up for lease for at least a section of the Sears space (77,000 sq ft). The Mall of New Hampshire Sears and the Salem Sears have also been listed for lease.

I attached the Seritage real estate listing info pictures below for the NH Sears sites.

I feel Sears in Manchster will turn into a Dicks Sporting Goods.

Perhaps the relative lack of competition is a factor; there's also the fact that Sears' then-mall development division (Homart) built Steeplegate. Perhaps Sears got a sweetheart lease deal when they sold off their mall portfolio.

Above was just one of the aisle in the tool department back in January in Manchester. They were all like that. Then you wonder why they say they need to close "unprofitable stores". How can it become profitable when they just stop caring (and stop carrying stuff)?

It's funny how they always say that they're regularly revising their store portfolio then get rid of unprofitable stores. With only 365 Kmart store left out of 2,200, you'd think the best stores are the ones left!

TheFugitive

I get these increasingly desperate emails from Sears.

"You have points available.  We have not seen you for awhile.
Why don't you come back and shop with us?"

uhh…..because you've closed every Sears store within a 30 mile radius
of where I live.  That's why.

I've also noticed the merchandise selection at Kmart has become increasingly poor over the past few years. For example, the shrunken electronics department mainly carries TVs and old or second releases of DVDs. It's obvious that the company cannot suit the needs of the average consumer anymore.

I see Newark, DE made the list. I've been in that store earlier in the summer and was at the shopping center again last week. Very large center that's mostly empty. At one time there was a Sears Hardware store at the other end of the plaza. I think the place has been hurt by the fact that you can't see most of the stores from the highway. Apparently there are big plans to revamp it as a "lifestyle center" including an apartment complex.

why ive said before that they should cut their losses and move on. 316 stores will be left by November come this wave. what if they get to 200 something stores? thats not enough to support the chain

It is true that the merchandise selection Kmart has become increasingly poor over the past few years.

Last time that I ended up in the electronics section of a Kmart (Their location in Pleasant Hills around the end of last November) some of the DVD's that I saw for sale we're Direct-to-video films that I never even heard of until that time (Those DVD's weren't even worth buying either). Their selection of Tablets also appeared to be obsolete models running older versions of Android and both my Windows Tablet (RCA Cambio W101) and my then recently acquired Fire 7 Tablet (It was a Cyber Monday special that I couldn't resist) puts all of those for sale at Kmart to shame. And the electronics section at Walmart for example is better and has more offerings.

Even then the place did not have many customers inside the place.

I do not see either Kmart or Sears making it to the end of next year as they will likely be forced to cut their losses and succumb to Chapter 7 by then.
