Florence, KY and Ft. Wright, KY

I just recently learned that Ames operated two former Zayre locations in northern Kentucky.

The Florence location appears to have been located at 7629 Mall Road.  Oddly, construction started in fall 1987, meaning that it did not operate as a Zayre for very long.  It was converted to an Ames, which closed in the early 1990s.  The space is currently home to TJ Maxx (or HomeGoods - I am not sure which space it occupied).

The Ft. Wright location was located at 1955 Dixie Highway.  I can't find any reference to a construction date for this location, but it likely became an Ames in the early '90s as well.  At some point after closing, it became a Stein Mart, which closed in 2012.  It is currently an outpatient center for the nearby Christ Hospital.

Guess Zayre was still eyeing that property once Ames went out, considering it's a TJMaxx/HomeGoods now.

Here's Florence...not much left of the original store layout.  TJ Maxx occupies the former Zayre/Ames and HomeGoods was once a Children's Palace.
