There's a possibility that they will all close this year.

There's hope for all of us, then. ;)

Kingston, NY is closing. The third anchor to close in the Hudson Valley Mall in the last 3 years. This leaves just Target, along with Best Buy and Dick's.

At the third quarter, Kmart had 510 stores, with these new closings, Kmart will be down to only 446 stores... only 83 more than Shopko has and Kmart will even be smaller than Ames was after the Hills acquisition!

Kmart is a shadow of its former self...  Not sure we can call it a national chain anymore.

My nearest store, Salisbury, MD, finally gets the axe. A sad day, like hearing of the death of an old friend. A really big deal for me to go shopping there...in 1977!

The stores are too spread out to count it as a regional chain.

I don't say it's now a regional chain but Kmart is far from the more than 2,000 stores it once had. Soon, several states won't have a Kmart and it will get impossible to efficiently run a chain so small and so spread out like this.

I guess when it gets to that point (possibly as early as the end of this year), they'll consolidate in the mid-west. Though most likely Kmart will cease to exist at that point.

many states have 1-5 leftv and the cmpany has not much more than Ames had in the end. I wont care anymre when they go

danfifepsu

Kmarts stores look same as they did since 1991. They have almost as many stores as Ames had in the end.

I'm curious to see if Connecticut will lose another SH property in the next set of closings. We haven't appeared since late-August.
