I have been noticing that leading up to the start of football season
ESPN Classic has been replaying college games from the 80's and 90's.

Some things about these I find oddly refreshing.

1) No instant replay to overturn calls!  It's easy to forget how smoothly the game
moved along before we stopped every few minutes to go look at a replay.

2) No ugly, funky looking novelty uniforms worn to promote Nike or Under Armour.

3) Absolutely no pink on any uniforms to promote awareness or fundraising.

4) No screaming, lunatic stadium announcers who sound like they came from WWE.

5) They are all games featuring two established teams.  Ohio State - Notre Dame or
Florida State - Clemson.  No one was playing a team just promoted from D-II that
had been playing Little Sisters of the Poor a couple of seasons ago.

6) Absolutely NO Tweets being mentioned at any time!

Yesterday they ran the Texas-Oklahoma game from 1969! Chris Schenkel and Bud Wilkinson handling the broadcast.  I'm surprised a complete tape of that existed.  Most of them got wiped and re-used back then.
