As of the date of this post, the Big Lots in Amsterdam is in the process of swapping out its longtime fleet for newer carts that appear to be transfers from the now-closed Queensbury and/or Troy stores. Staff were pushing the old ones out the front door as they brought in the "new" ones. The second picture is of one of those newer ones.

Irondequoit and Wappingers Falls (former GU/Treasure Island) are on the latest list.

Wappingers Falls is now one of the stores that was removed from the closing list (along with Kingston which was not previously mentioned but was on the list for a minute somewhere along the line).

After the sale to Nexus fell through, they are now finished.

Big Lots has received a last minute reprieve on it's way to the electric chair.

Gordon Brothers/Variety Partners will acquire the chain and will continue to operate 200+ stores under the Big Lots name.

Which locations will remain open has not been announced at this time.

The press is reporting that Variety Wholesalers, which purchased Big Lots at the 11th. hour and plans to keep around 1/4 of the chain still operating, has posted a list of their store leases which are up for sale (meaning that these stores will not be kept open).

As I predicted the one at Great Southern Shopping Center is a goner.  The management there has a reputation for charging too much rent, so they are using the bankruptcy as a pretext to bail out of there.

Likewise their location in the former Hills store in West Mifflin near Century III.  That is next to the Service Merchandise location where I had worked.

As the Fairless Hills, PA one is closing now. Ocean State Job Lot seems to now owning the whole shopping center and most likely put an OCJL where Big Lots was (Which is in half of a former Caldor/Ames).
The other half which has been vacant ever since Ames left is finally being occupied by Grocery Outlet.

USA Today has published what it claims is the list of Big Lots locations that Gordon Bros./Variety Wholesale intends to keep open.

The reopening of Big Lots stores under new owners Variety Wholesale has begun.  It is happening in waves.  The first wave took place last week and included the following locations.

The very first location in the second wave list was at one time a Hills Department Stores location where Mrs. Fugitive worked prior to it's closing.  I recall once picking her up after her shift in her Ford Escort and then having to outrun a tornado.
