Thus the Powerpuff Girls were born!

I'd hate to say it, but the newer series does not AT ALL rekindle the magic of the older series. And since when are they into boy bands? Are they five or fifteen?

In the original series the girls were portrayed as being five years old and in Kindergarten. I wouldn't think that five year old girls would listen to boy bands.

The reboot is good, not great. It is still watchable.

The action is a bit milder compared to the classic Powerpuff Girls, who started out as the Whoopass Girls in the Whoopass Stew short ("a can of whoopass" later became "Chemical X" and the Whoopass Girls became the more appropriately-titled Powerpuff Girls).

The original voice actresses did not return to voice the dynamic trio. Cartoon Network hired three new tween-aged voice actresses to voice them. The supporting cast (Professor Utonium, the Mayor of Townsville, etc.) is still voiced by the voice actors/actresses from the original 1998 cartoon. The original PPG voice actresses have no ill will towards Cartoon Network's decision to replace them. Mojo Jojo, the main villain in the original, returns in the reboot, as well.

In April 2001, a set of six Powerpuff Girls toys were available at Dairy Queen, as well as a sweepstakes offering for the Powerpuff Girls VHS tape "Boogie Frights".

I don't remember DQ having PowerPuff Girls or a sweepstakes to win a PPG video, but I do remember as I said before about Burger King having a set of PowerPuff Girls and DragonBall Z toy of having two toys in one kids meal.

Jack in the Box also released six Powerpuff Girls toys in their Kids' Meals as well, to tie-in with The Powerpuff Girls Movie in July 2002. Most of the Jack in the Box locations are located in California, as well as the Pacific Northwest.

...which in my case I barely even remember the Warner Bros. Studio Store at all; the closest one was at Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn, MI; Southland Center in Taylor, MI never had one.

Remember the episode West in Pieces? The episode takes place in the wild west, and the Powerpuff Girls' ancestors, the Steamypuff Girls save the day at a high-noon showdown, when Mojo Jojo's ancestor, Mojo the Kid, has robbed Townsville's first bank ever.


The Steamypuff Girls, the ancestors of the Powerpuff Girls, are made from sassafras, arsenic, and everything old-fashioned with an accidental dose of coal by Professor Utonium, ancestor of modern Professor Utonium.
Like the modern Powerpuff Girls, the girls' names are Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup. They all wear matching dresses and bonnets, and have large coal-powered steam engines strapped to each of their backs.

Has anyone seen the classic Powerpuff Girls episode "Knock it Off"? It's one of my favorites, where Professor Utonium's old college roommate Dick Hardly comes to visit. Later on in the episode, Dick Hardly creates his own Powerpuff Girls using a recipe and Chemical X given to him by the Professor's Powerpuff Girls. Dick Hardly's versions of the Powerpuff Girls are bootlegs with mismatched hairstyles, eye colors, and deformities.
