The U.S. Postal Service branch inside South Hills Village near Pittsburgh has closed.

This Post Office was one of the original tenants when the mall opened in 1965.
According to employees Simon Properties had decided not to renew their lease.
The location had been sporadically closed in recent months anyway due to repeated
outages of their internet service.  Employees blamed this on the mall, which, since
they were ending the lease anyway, was apparently not in a great hurry to fix them.

No word on what is planned to take over this space.
Are there any other malls out there with active branches of the U.S. Postal Service inside?

Colonie Center in the Albany (NY) market has had a Post Office for many years - it's on an outer spot and can be accessed without being inside the actual mall, but is still part of the mall itself (not a separate building on the property).

I know I've seen others as well but can't be sure at the moment exactly which malls and if any are still operating there.

Looking it up quickly, it is interesting in that the lobby area (for dropping items off - not sure if they still offer any automated postage sales as they once did) and PO Boxes are accessible basically 24 hours a day 7 days a week, which is more than most regular offices offer.

Increasingly you are seeing that design in post offices where the lobby is open 24/7 to allow access to P.O. boxes, mail slots and a postage machine.  A fence or folding door is used to isolate the counter area during non-business hours.

There was for many years a post office branch in the main Kaufmann's Department Store in Downtown Pittsburgh.
