I remember Arthur's. It was a small dept. store with some locations in Connecticut and maybe other states too. I know it had a store at the CT Post Mall in Milford, which later moved to Orange. It had also a store in my town, Hamden, (about 25,000 sq. ft.). It is now a Joann Fabrics & Crafts store.

Apparently (using a search) there was also a small chain of drugstores in CT that were called Arthur's as well - this is a link about the last one closing when the Civic Center MALL was being demolished in Hartford:
