Spartan Stores

This was a local grocery chain I remember from when I lived in Michigan.
Several of them around Flint and Lansing, as well as one down in Hillsdale.
Are they still in business?

One thing I remember about them is that they always had free coffee at the
front door for their customers.  Something I really miss, as I have never seen
any supermarket outside the state of Michigan that offers this.

From the name I am assuming that alumni of Michigan State University
started this company.

If so, it appears that they no longer use the Spartan name on any of the stores, just as a corporate name.
