Thorofare Markets

Anyone remember these?  There were quite a few of them around
Pittsburgh when I was a young child.  They picked-up and left town in
the early 70's, supposedly due to troubles with their unions.

Two of the buildings they were in stuck around until fairly recently.
One was demolished to make way for a housing development.  It had
housed Giant Eagle and Shop N Save stores in the interim. The other
was demolished for a new Fresh Market location.  A carpet store had been
in there for about thirty years.

I can't find where Thorofare is still in business anyplace else in the country.

Thorofares were in the Cincinnati, OH area through the early '80s. Here's the logo.

From what I can find, they were acquired by Fox Grocery in 1982. I heard rumors about one location potentially still open on Cincinnati's west side, but it's in a location that I am entirely unfamiliar with.
