I think the Dave & Busters in Boston would be a great place for a big AFC meeting. Any takers?

Marc82

Why D&B in Boston? Why not the one in NYC? Or even Philly?

nims57

Because it used to be Jillian's, which went bankrupt, and was a lot more interesting than D&B I thought. It seems pretty central too.

Another idea is BAR Boston, or the AMF Bristol Pike lounge in Croydon, PA.

GothicPrincess

Well, anything in PA is closer for me, so i'd vote for that one...lol and make sure it's like, in the summertime so that I'm not in school.

We do have lots of members in CT, MA, PA, and NJ. I remember being really impressed by the Jillian's in LA years ago. There was one in Houston too.

NY is a good call, my car auto pilots to NY state now after the trips last year!!  ;D
Hyde Park still has a vacant Ames with random shopping carts scattered about and a lot further north is Plattsburgh, NY loaded with Ames treasures in the vacant building also there is a Ponderosa Steakhouse less then a mile from there!!
There is a lot in store for you where clean, fresh and good make a GRAND UNION.

Hyde Park ny is good for me 8)
it looks like some cool things to do there

BillyGr

Maybe someone could check with the ownership of that plaza and see if they'd be willing to rent it out for a day cheap (since it would be interesting to have a reunion in a former Ames, no?).

EscheAmes

That would be really cool, wouldn't be able to attend though :(

EscheAmes

Being 17 and not owning a vehicle has part of it (ill get one soon so maybe in a few years), and what kind of excuse "Ok, im leaving Boston to go hang out with people that i've never met in real life about a defunct store chain that i knew growing up"

My mom is like Pro Dr. Phil.... -.-

patk

hmmm theres 2 Roy Rogers on the NY Thruway (rt87) lunch! ::)
we MUST do this soon or Stop and Shop will kill it! >:(

nims57

We can talk about anything, again part of the reason the forums might need a new name. How about a meeting at a bar in a plaza with a dead Ames or something?

Marc82

The problem with a bar is there are members of this forum who aren't 21 and won't be for a while including EscheAmes and Joe (jmcnamara96).

as I said earlier, as long as I know pretty well in advance, because of school, kids, and I'm already attempting to plan a NJ vacation after school is out. Not sure if my husband will allow me to go by myself, and I don't want to drag my bratty children with me either...I could always leave them in Queens with my sister, I guess. I don't know. Just try to do it after school lets out for one, and for two, make sure I have gas money so I can go. I need to have time to save up for it. The grant refund from my college isn't taking me very far, since I'm using most of it for NJ and the beach. Let me know. I'll keep my eyes on here, since I check it every day, sometimes 2-3 times in one day.

What about Mack's on West in Southington?

Marc82

That's an idea. It's minutes from I-84 Exit 31. And one exit down from The AMES (now Bed Bath Beyond/Bob's Furniture). It's also just a few minutes away without getting back on 84. If we do it this summer we can see the Shoprite being constructed in the old Shaws. =)

Marc has a friend in Vineland NJ, and there was an Ames there. How about the Denny's in Vineland? It has a cocktail lounge! Now that's a first!

Or the classic Pizza Hut in Vineland which is in great condition?

Maybe even Cheers?

GothicPrincess

Anything in Jersey is easier for me, since I lived there for 13 years. I can find my way around when necessary. Yes, this summer would be delicious, and as soon as I find out exactly when I'm planning my vacation for, then I'll let you guys know as well, this way maybe I could tack it on at the end of my vacation before I come back home. :) Sound good?
Jaime...BRADLEES FOREVER!!!

Marc82

I still don't have a job, so if it's in Jersey count me out.  :'(
