Wow!  That picture of the Catonsville store is a real find for me as I grew up in that area and the store was part of the shopping center where I had my first job.  Does anyone have any info about when the store first opened and how long the building has been there?  (It looks as though it is still standing.)

There was one in Groton which closed and was turned into a weird use, It was turned into some sort of Government Agency thing, and in another topic I talked how there was one in Waterford which turned into an Ames then a Lowe's.

Caldor - Middletown update.

Still all the same. Nothing at all different whatsoever. The plaza is more of a wreck now though. Auto Zone has moved, so the only thing in there now is a dentist office in the interior portion.

Woo, Amesman! Smokin' new shots of the Middletown Caldor; especially that last night shot. I must travel up there sometime, just to see some of the dead malls in the area.

To tell you the truth XISMZERO, there aren't many dead malls left in this area. Dutchess Mall is gone, the old Orange Plaza is gone. There's a dead mall/plaza in Monticello, but that's about it. As for old abandoned plazas, you may be able to find a few around. I'm glad you liked the pictures.

Here's a glimpse of the former Caldor at the Auburn Mall in Auburn Mass. It's became a Filene's Men's Store (since Macy's) and the building was reportedly demolished. I remember seeing this original orange-lettering Caldor off I-90 when I was a child during my many trips to Boston.

Here's a former Caldor, now a Bon-Ton at the Newburgh Mall off I-84 in Newburgh, New York. I believe D_fife tipped me off about this in one of his earlier pictures. The mall had a no photography policy but it's alright because the mall was lame. This picture was taken at dusk.
