Even close-out stores are closing. I was flipping through the channels last night and on WRDM Channel 50 (The Hartford Affiliate of the Telemundo Spanish Network) they had a commercial that "Joeyz Shopping Spree" is closing down their store at 311 West Main Street in Meriden.

Joeyz Shopping Spree is a close-out store with a handful of stores in Connecticut and Mass. Other locations (which will remain open for now) are Waterbury, Hamden?, and West Hartford in Connecticut and Springfield, Massachusetts.

The Hamden store closed a year ago.  It was open only for a few years.  It seemed more like a discount store than a closeout store.

It makes sense...as more and more mainstream retailers close, that means less extra merchandise available for these closeout stores. That's what happened to Value City..and the low quality non-buyout junk they started bringing in ruined their customer base.
