It was just published in today's newspaper that a developer working with Walmart has purchased an option on some farm land on State Route 68 just outside the city of Ogdensburg.  They plan to build a super center on the property.  They've been talking about this for years.  I hope it finally gets built.

wal-mart in massena new york.

This store, located at 49 Smith Dr. next to Aldi in Massena, is closed and up for sale.  Walmart opened its new supercenter in Massena at 43 Stephenville Rd., next to Home Depot a couple of months ago.  I will try and get pics soon if I can.

The Adamantium Elbow

You know what I always found funny about wal-mart? How all the Too cool for the room Yuppie pricks of the 80s and 90s who wouldn't be caught dead shopping at a place like wal-mart or Ame's are practically crowding the joint.

Whatsamatta Chip? Did the BullBear market take a dump on you?

Just wanted to let you know in Central Connecticut Walmart is in the process of full-remodels of several stores. They just completed the remodel in AVON (a former CALDOR on Route 44) and they are currently working on Rocky Hill. Next year they're gonna be a full-store remodel at my Walmart in Southington on Route 10 (which was a Rainbow Caldor right up until the end). A full-store remodel - what a nice way to celebrate our store's 10th Anniversary (which I believe is April 2010)

AmesNewington

Did you hear anything about Newington? It just got the paint job and the front section of the store re-model in 2006 I believe, but the rest of the store has remained the in the same order since it opened in September, 2001. If you can ask for me, I'd appreciate it. Most of the store is worn out and tired, except the newer part.

I wonder if there are any Wal-Marts that still look like this (from google images, resized with picnik)

When I first saw that picture, I thought it said "We Sell Less For Less"! :D

This is a former Wal Mart location in Pikeville, Kentucky. Several things have move into the building. Wells Fargo Insurance Company, East Kentucky Medical Group, Community Trust Bank Headquaters, and A Day Care around the side of the building.

Another look at the rest of the building in Pikeville, Ky.

Has anyone seen a Walmart with a new logo yet?  The Hamden, CT store is getting a new exterior, therefore I expect it to have a new logo soon.

Wal-Mart used to make a promise to buy from American companies as much as they could. isn't that hard to believe? but it's true

Nope. We got new bags but they still have the old logos. The new bags are white with blue letters instead of black letters.

The new logo is really ugly... like most new cars these days.

I know one that also opened in 1995, but remodeled thoroughly. There was a newer store, newer style, opened in 2001 and was repainted early 2007.:huh:

I remember when I was 8 or 9 and the one in East Norriton (same style, also a former Bradlees) opened. For some reason they never started construction on the former Bradlees in Glenolden until summer 2004, then it opened in early 2005.
The one in The Woodlands, TX opened in 1984 and moved in 1990.:holysh::huh::flaming:

Ever wonder how are things at Walmart in the southern hemisphere?  Walmart Argentina is currently advertising patio furniture, since the seasons are reversed (it is spring there now).
See the link below.

I found this photo on flickr of a Wal-Mart Supercenter in Mexico with a very large mall entrance.  Does anyone know of a Wal-Mart in the U. S. with a similar entrance?

DerangedHermit

The Wal-Mart in Massapequa, NY is inside the Sunrise Mall, and is two floors.

Wal-Mart is in preliminary talks to open a location in East Patchogue, NY. Anyone who knows this areas knows that this is a traffic nightmare waiting to happen unless they improve the Hospital Road bridge (which is one narrow lane each way and leads to Brookhaven Hospital).

UPDATE: Renovations on the Queen Street Walmart in Southington is expected to begin July 20, 2009 and is expected to last until September. They have said everything will be changed. Since they can't expand they're gonna try to make the most out of the space they do have.

No word which other stores in CT will be remodeled next year. However I heard renovations are done every 7-10 years. I supposed that may also mean others could close and move to bigger locations.

Cromwell Walmart did renovations a couple of years ago as did Bristol.  I like the Southington Walmart because it is a bit smaller and easier to get through.  The Neiwngton one is terrible, the isles are to close together and it gets really crowded so you need to go at off times.

Here's the exterior of my Walmart on Queen Street in Southington. This Walmart was one of 3 remaining Rainbow Style Caldor locations in Connecticut. Pic taken today 10/22/08.

Southington Walmart's Garden Center. Closed for the season. Inside is what's left of the Halloween set-up getting ready to switch over to Christmas. This new lawn and garden center opened in 2008 replacing the one that dated back to when this Walmart opened in April 2000.

Out here in SE Pennsylvania, most of the Wal-Mart are original builds.  the only two that are not are:
• Franklin Mills Mall, Philadelphia (was origianlly Carrefour, the Wal-Mart's space was a Bradlees)
 • US Route 13 & New Rogers Road, Bristol Township (was originally Caldor, then Ames)
 •
My girlfriend, who works at the Rindge, N.H. store, says they have the new "sunburst" logo up. Pictures coming soon!

Oh, and a reminder. Let's keep the editorals/personal comments about the company out of this forum. Informative posts are encouraged. If you've got something to say about Walmart, take it to the "bashing" section, please.
All submitted photos were taken by myself unless stated otherwise.
