The inside of the store. This looked almost like the Danbury store in it's heyday and I was awed to find they still used the pull-ticket system for video games. Note how hey also still use the supermarket-style aisles!

Here's the store visible from the Great Northern Mall. You can see it easily from Dick'sSporting Goods. I'm convinced this store was trapped in some irregular time warp.

notice the yellow of the toys rus wall in his picture when he takes the picture down that isle. I noticed that when I wbent in (I do not take pictures inside because someone might see or tell an employee or an employee may see) that is the color of the walls in the old school. man that is busy, but I think that it is because it is the only toys r us around syracuse, since the one in dewitt closed and maybe because people displaced from that one go here and because it is close to the mall. ths one is 45,000 sq.ft. adn so is the danbury one. when you where in the parking lot from dick's where you careful because this is a strict mall when it comes to picture taking. me and another member got in trouble at this mall for it.

it was not busy when I went last march becasue I was there at lunchtime on a school day during my spring break.

here is my picture of the one in clay.

It took me four and a half hours to get here so getting a satisfactory amount of shots was objective. Unfortunately, I dropped my camera on the day were I was going to go back and visit the site again and go see the Driver's Village :(

I made an album of my trip visible here: http://ccsu.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2013995&l=83c7c&id=48807574

When I got back home, I played with the camera and smacked it around and it appears to work and take pictures again :D I'll be back up there soon to get more... soon as in maybe a year though...

Oh and Caldor1999, reason I haven't been online is because I havent been using AIM lately.

the 31,000 sq.ft. toys r us in hamden CT in the hamden mart that opened in fall 1996. it was a stop and shop that moved across the street.

I was told by one of my friends from wallingford there was one in east haven that closed. I saw pictures of it on the net a few years ago and it had that classic brown look and the parking lot was in bad shape.

Wow. That Toys R Us in Anaheim is scary old. Quite possibly the oldest Toys R Us I've ever seen. That road sign is amazing. Here are some shots of the current Toys R Us store in Milford, Connecticut.

Toys R Us / Milford, Connecticut. This store was obviously one of Connecticut's first stores probably built in the early-mid 1980s. Note how it has a rare "glass/skylight" exit vestibule.

what a wierd toys r us. I guess there are no brown toys r us' left in CT. from the store number, i guess it opened like 1986 (A BIG EXPANSION YEAR FOR THEM) and that anaheim one must have been one of their first stores and I have never seen a toys r us look so OLD OLD OLD OLD OLD.

XISMZERO

Yep, you're right. There are no more older stores in Connecticut as all of them have been converted or built in the early 1990's. The newest store is the relocated Waterbury store which opened in 1997 as a prototype store. As far as I know, there are only two stores which no longer exist which include the East Haven and former Waterbury stores.

I'm guessing this store looked like the East Haven store as it has a corner style entrance and a distant glass-style exit area. Think of the Milford store as a mirror image of that. Not only that but the Milford store was only miles away from the ill-fated East Haven store both off I-95.

Also notice the other label scar on the building... it looks as if they've moved the giant star "R" from over the exit to the building side?

XISMZERO, great pics of  Clay, NY. I have a couple shots of the store, but no close ups like you have. Very cool stuff. Hit me up with an IM sometime. Screen name is HudsonValleyJack.

Also, d fife, the Amherst, NY store used to have the brown facade. The Clarence store had it too. Both have been remodeled now though. Poughkeepsie had it too, but it was remodeled as well. I may have an old picture of it. I'll have to look.

it is easy to tell that the ones in amherst and clarence did as they way the buildings look (The one in swansea mass looks exactly like those 2) and those two were probably remodeled like 5 yrs ago. and the poughkeepsie one you could tell it was remodeled with the purple look. I Guess no brown ones besides clay and horseheads / elmira are left.

Here's the former Toys R Us in Commack, New York. The store was in the process of being converted into something unknown. It appears as if it's been subdivided for it's future tenant(s).
