Here's the Woburn "Toys R Us". Compare to a possible slightly altered design on this IGA Supermarket. Also note that many IGA stores took over former stores not just Finast, Adams and Edwards stores.

this store opened the late 1970s, so it couldn't have and there ws an adjoining stoer next door called bed and bath.

I believe at one point, the Woburn Toys "R" Us used that rented space were the Bed & Bath store once was. Basically, the store must've been that big and used all that space. There was another entrance on the other side plus there was a strange/out of place white wall inside on the side where the store was divided into that Bath store.

Furthermore, this Canton IGA has to have been a Toys "R" Us. There's very little doubt in my mind after considering all that's been altered.

-The V-stripes on the left side (painted over in blue) near the scaffolding
-The dark brown scars on the facade suspect there were extra pieces of brown roof taken off this store as seen on the Woburn store.
-Various large "pin" holes like the ones seen on the Woburn store from previous sign placement
-The windows aligned under the scaffolding plus the blue bars almost suspect a former vestibule
-The building size matches that of a typical older model TRU
-Red body under the brown paint... same as the red under the Woburn's facade.
-Also consider this store being shoved in the back of the Canton Village plaza on a major Route (44) similar to Woburn's store also in the back of a busy plaza. There is no TRU for miles or in the area by far.

My guess is that the store, being in such an obscure location, closed down due to poor sales probably in the early 80s. That's all speculation but considering these almost have to say this was a TRU.

Toys rus and bed and bath coexisted the same time. and the toys r us was always the same size. both the toys r us and bed and bath was probably like a W.T. GRant.

Does anyone have a list on all the old-school Toys R Us stores in New York? Currently, we know of Clay and Horseheads being the only two brown/rainbow stores existing.

Also, I'm taking a trip to Massachusetts/Boston area on Monday and I was wondering what the Toys R Us in Cambridge looks like. I know it's not an old-school store but I will be taking pictures of it since it's now abandoned.

The vacant Toys "R" Us in Cambridge, MA on Alewife Brook Parkway. Notice how everything out the outside has been stripped away from any Toys R Us identity. Here's the exit doors.

When I first arrived at the Fresh Pond Mall, I had a hard time believing this was were the Toys R Us was until I found the label scar on behind the building. This mall is actually a strip mall, looking plenty distressed from time.

Another shot of the entrance. Does anyone know the history on this Toys R Us? What did it look like before it closed? These pictures are from July 31, 2006 - unfortunately, I missed this store right before it closed. This one is located only 15 minutes away from the Woburn store on Rt. 3.

Here's the Toys "R" Us aside the Great Northern Mall in Clay, New York right outside Syracuse. These were taken on my most recent trip on Saturday.

Toys "R" Us in Clay, New York. If I didn't know better this store was built the same year as the store in Danbury, Connecticut - and it looks exactly the same by memory.

it was built the same year as danbury - 1988.

Looks unchanged at all since. A nearby store in DeWitt recently closed (also in Syracuse area). Note the wonderfully colorful and brown vintage style!

edit: D_fife says it was built in 1985

The store was in outstanding condition and was very busy for a Toys "R" Us. I suspect the traffic from the mall atracts business to this store apart from there being no stores nearby.

The 1980's original model of the stores had these lights under the scaffolding to light up the rainbow planks at night. This store still had them!

Toys "R" Us at the Great Northern Mall. This store had no road sign/plyon because if they did it would've been brown like the one in Horseheads.
