I thought the Clay Toys "R" Us was slated for closure. Anyway, I might have to do a trip to New York. Finding a brown Toys "R" Us is still high on my list.

Here's a burning question... what did the TRU in Clay or Elmira look like inside? Did they use the game ticket system still? Did they ever do a "maze" style remodel like most newer stores?

the one in elmira was yellow inside and clay's inside was whiteish and elmira had kids r us departments still. teh entrances were not changed.l I do not under ttand the game ticket thing

XISMZERO

Back before the late 90's remodel scheme, Toys "R" Us stores used to have ticket slips for their games you'd take to the register to pay for and later pick up the game from the front of the store. This was scrapped later as they began carrying games on the shelves a la Best Buy as well as behind glass on shelves a la an EB.

Is that the Toys 'R Us that is over by Great Northern Mall?? I haven't been over that way in a few years now, but it was a treat seeing the Old School style.

amesman

yep, that's the Toys R Us located next to Great Northern Mall. Speaking of Great Northern, I had great picture coverage of the interior of the mall, and the old school Dick's Sporting Goods(which has since been remodeled..go figure), but an a-hole security guard(trust me, he wasn't a nice guy about it) made me delete every single picture of the mall I had off my camera. I got some payback though. A year later(last summer) I drove around the mall and took exterior pictures.

hey I got yelled at by mall security at the mall too. But they did not have me delete every picture from my camera. That mall is STRICT ABOUT PICTURES!!!! I took pictures on the outside. they told me that they don't want pictures due to marketing issues.

Now abotu Toys r us, that one in clay told me it was built in 1988.

dewitt closed recently one of my pictures shows it vacant. It was part of the 87 stores. How much business did the one in dewitt get?

Really...To an extent I can see about not wanting you to take photos of inside the mall. I am sure that if you went straight to the Mall Offices beforehand and asked for permission, you may have been able to get permission to do so. I'm sure you don't look like someone who is there to cause trouble. However, If they "made" you delete the photos off of your camera, I would have told them to "Have a Nice Day." They have no business making you delete photos off of your own camera.

XISMZERO

They tried to get me to delete my Toys "R" Us photos from Holyoke Mall in Massachusetts. I just suggested I put it away because I was not about to delete my pictures. They'd have to arrest me first.

Anyway, that Clay TRU is amazing. Unfortunately, it's over 3 hours away from my hometown. I suggest anyone in that area get some more photos of it!

Here's the Toys "R" Us in Hamden, Connecticut located on Dixwell Avenue. It's glossy, sheen, and brand-new looking! By far, one of the nicest stand-alone stores in the state.

Found a retro trailer in the back of the store which seemed very old. Note how there's no "Kids "R" Us" logo anywhere to be found like most of the trailers.
