Can anyone confirm which locations are still 1980s brown/rainbow colored buildings? The last one I knew of around me (I live in Connecticut) was in Danbury and they renovated it a little under a year ago I think. I'm one of those lucky states whose stores are not closing!

Also, if anyone has any historical pictures of the one in Corbin's Corner/West Hartford, I'd like to see them seeing as I practically grew up at that store.

Another thing... does anyone have interior shots of any of the older stores (pre-renovation)?

I have no interoir shots and none of west hartford.

I too want to know where there are still old school Toys r us: The one in Woburn mass (I last saw it in 2000) had the old school look when I Saw it and I think it still looks that way. I thought hte one in swansea mass would, but it looked like it had a cheap remodeling job. There are proably some old school toys r us' out their. my fav look are the old school looks because it is classic (Thought it is outdated to people and it appears to me they did away with the old school TOys r us look in the 1989-1990 bridge). I went to the one in bangor maine in 1999 and it had the old school lok and from the store number it seems it opened in 1989 or the later part of that year, but I heard that the brown was repainted white and that was it. My other fav look is the blue with yellow tinted glass windows (The ones in newington nh, warwick ri, and portland maine and glens falls ny look that way and that look is awesome). my least fav toys r us design is the white one, it is dull and most of the toys r us' I see look that way. the springfield one looks that way, but it looks like it was remodeled at some point as in the side of the store is black lining and has the toys rus lettering.

again, I too hope to find old school toys r us'. we have the same interest in the old look it seems. those old school toys r us looks is rare! as most of have remodeled, and relocated or closed. the one in new haven ct looked that way before it closed from what I saw. some pictures on this topic have old school toys r us looks. is the one in west hartford big? I want to go to that mall across the street from it.

I can confirm the Toys "R" Us in Danbury was the old brown building. I remember visiting it in 2005 (early if I can recall correctly) and mentioning how old the building looked (exterior) seeing as most ones I visited in Connecticut have remodeled in accordance with the early to late 90s or later models. Interesting note: If you've ever visited the store in the past, you'll know the entrance is practically the same horseshoe that you once walked through (except now you don't have to walk through it). Look for it!

About the one in Springfield... it's about 8 miles after you get off Indian Orchard exit. It took me an hour to get there from Farmington, CT (went a few weeks ago) and its an early 90s style and really small. Its one of those Kids "R" Us hybrids.

Down the road, there's a former KRU building occupied by Namco (the pool store). I almost took a shot of it but I'm paranoid.

Stopped in last month upon my drive to the Danbury Fair Mall. I had known it was renovated since the last two or three visits (I'm there every two or so months usually).

The one in Waterbury (near Brass Mill Center) was one of the first prototype planned stores from stratch and probably the newest one in Connecticut. Needless to say, when I visited in 1998 or so, I was taken aback by the dramatic new look. I want the old one back now though...

I've got some abandoned Kids "R" Us (and early 90's white Toys "R" Us adjacent to the empty husk) pics to post here soon as I'm just getting back from the Manchester, NH location. Check back soon...

The kids r us in manchester is still abandoned. the toys r us in manchester looks like the one in springfield. I was told there was a Toys r us in waterbury Ct 2 miles away from, the current one and the old one in waterbury was brown.

I'd like to know where there's an older Toys "R" Us in Waterbury. Since it's a very low-income town, there's a chance it's still undeveloped property but If the empty building is still there, that'd be a fascinating photo shoot. However, since Waterbury isn't a very safe area to go exploring in, I'm not too anxious to go looking around. It's bad enough seeing the Brass Mill Center located in the center of that hellish city.

I was wondering if the abandoned Toys "R" Us (I was told it was a KRU but it looks like a TRU circa 1980s) in East Haven, CT is still there... (but East Haven is another caution area I'm told).

Also, d_fife, do you have any idea how long Kids "R" Us in Manchester, NH has been abandoned?

The OLD TOys r us in waterbury was on wolcott st across from the NAguatuck valely mall and the TOys r us has been redeveloped to another thing and nothing is left of the old Toys r us, from what I have haerd. I have heard that waterbury is crimey.

and the kids r us in manchester has been vacant for 2 years.

I heard the abandoned Toys r us in east haven is becoming a Carmax and may not still be vacant, meaning the vacant building may be gone.

I heard there's two more in the area; one in Salem and Concord. I think the one in Concord is 20 minutes away. Any information on either of these?
