OK! Here they are:

Keep in mind, tho: the "second-generation" Toys R Us, with rainbow bars, I happen to have one in my town and I spotted another in Houston, although it was serving as some sort of "discount store" (read: dollar store) in a sad-looking strip mall.

We'd like to see them here. Post your images right here on the board, just be sure to keep them within a reasonable size (700x) tops.

Yeah, I might show them sometime, but the real prize was obviously the first-gen one in Waco. You DID enjoy them, right?

And please, please, post it here:

WACO, Texas

Opened: Unknown

Brown Roof: Yes

Rainbow Stripes: Yes

Road Sign: Unknown*

Contains: Kids R Us co-brand store

I used to live in Raleigh and I know exactly where that is.

If you click here and scroll down a bit, you'll see the mall and the former Toys R Us.

Toys'r'us in Portsmouth/Newington NH.  Renovated and now paired with Babies 'r' us.

Nice updates, Zayre. You're tredding on Dan's terrain now!

Portsmouth, NH joins Manchester for newest revision remodels. Still none here in Connecticut (although we're getting a new store with the new remodel).

Here's the former Toys R Us in Westport, CT which closed in January, soon to be HomeGoods.

Here's another odd looking store in MAYS LANDING, N.J.

Notice how it has the rainbow stripes on a 90's looking store. It had a Kids R Us on the left side, now occupied by OfficeDepot. Don't know about year built, but this store also has two entrances, another oddity.

Wow, I've been going to this particular Toys R Us ever since I was a little kid. I never noticed it had a different look than most Toys R Us stores.  I remember when the Office Depot was Kids R Us. I remember being bored out of my mind, begging my parents to take me over to the Toys R Us next door. I liked laying on the beds they had set up though, lol. I should get pictures next time there. Look out for them on my Flickr photostream, http://www.flickr.com/photos/nintendo85.

The Newington, CT / Toys 'R' Us is getting a paint job. No word if it will be updated or remodeled at all. Developing...

So i drove by my old grounds. I really dont see much of a paint job. looks like they just repainted the building white where it was starting to show its age. The did redo the inside once again though! New signs and stuff. Seems like every year they redo the inside of Newington Toys r us! By the way, their class of store is going up from class C to class B, with Stew Loenards and Sams Club opening their. Means more shipments and stuff. They even now have a HR person, which is odd, bc first time  since 1997 they have one, which means a good sign for that store.

TRU, explain this class system to me. If a store has a high grade (like a B or A), it gets remodeled or better treatment? Do you know why some stores never get remodeled -- could this have something to do with it?

Theres 3 classes with Toys R Us. It goes by how much the store makes a year (volume) and how big the store is. Example, Manchester, CT is a class A and so is Danbury because their bigger stores and are the two busiest in CT. West Hartford is a Class B, while Newington was a Class C before. Newington being the smallest  store size and volume compare to Manchester or West Hartford.  If your a class A, your going to get the royal treatment from the company. You be on their list to get more merchandise, all the latest posters and first to get any type of store designs.  I give u an example, this was back in 2004 when i worked their.

In one day, Manchester could mak sales of 32,000, while West Hartford did like 15,000 and Newington did like 10,000.

AmesNewington

Newington always gets the short end of the stick. Stores in town that I feel do BIG business are Wal Mart, Lowe's, Stop and Shop and Stew Leonards. Everything else I really could never figure out.
