Dan, I've been keeping my eye on both of those NJ locations (North Bergen and Rockaway) that were recently brown but found that they were both remodeled. I think you also knew and told me they were. So you found another brown draped one in Ohio. What's with Ohio (and that whole middle region for that matter)?! They have many troubled stores; closed and lack of remodeled ones. NJ has a lot of Toys R Us stores, surprised they are all up to date beyond 1990-era models.

Here's another former Toys R Us in Detroit, Michigan (crime and grime capital of the US) that was oldschool up until its closure. I've never seen such a weird recycled store in the old style of TRU. I wonder how it looks inside...

I lived in North Bergen for a period of time, also Jersey City. Above the Kids R Us was HIP health company doctors, I used to go there. From what I heard, they took that out. Unsure if Kids R Us is still there or not. The Toys R us I remember seeing it both the old school way AND the new blue. I moved away from Jersey in 1999, but visited a few times since then. When they re-did the outside of the building, the town was fixing a road along the left side of it. But that store was there seems like forever to me...

Almost cried today when I took my 1 mile ride at lunch to Toys R Us. I've been going there over 30yrs. Today I pulled up to "STORE CLOSING" signs 20%-%40 off. Very upset to say the least. They told me it was not to due to lack of sales. They say the building is about to fall apart. They have had plastic tarps hanging from the cieling for the past several months. I believe it leaks and the entire strip mall is in disrepair. From what I hear the mall owner is an A-HOLE as well.
 
Anywho, just thought I'd let you know incase you want to post it on your site. I can take pictures tomorrow if you want. Just let me know and I'll bring my camera. Hell, Im gonna bring my camera tomorrow anyway and snap a last round. I've got a lot of pics from years ago too. Just have to find them in my cd photo archive if you want some. Ever since I had kids from 2001 on I made sure to get loads of pics of them inside all the local toy stores. I had fears this would happen. It really blows.
 

Oh yeah they told me last day for the store is Jan 31st, most of the toys that sell have been relocated to other TRU's the slower moving stuff will keep going down in price. They also said they are trying to open another TRU/BRU combo in the westport fairfield area but real estate is not looking good. I told them they should have put one in the Trumbull mall lot 35 years ago. Its still not too late. They are clearing a huge spot to the right of the mall entrance for some retail space. TRU would do wonderful right there. The only toy store in the mall is probably what I consider to be the worst kay bee on the face of the earth. Once it moved downstairs from its original location upstairs in the early 90s it went to crap.

And yes for those wondering, this TRU used to be a Childworld. I believe TRU took over in the early 90s. My home base TRU and Childworld were in Milford CT. I lived directly inbetween Westport and Milford. It was equal distance to both locations but the Trumbull and Milford Malls always kept us going to the Milford TRU/Childworld. We hit the the westport CW/TRU about once a month. Once I got my license I visited the westport store much more frequently. I work about a mile away from it and I am really going to miss it as I hit it up at lunch quite often. Norwalk is a very UGLY and lifeless store.

Toys R Us at 1850 Post Road East near the Fairfield line has begun a store closing sale. An employee said the store will be closed by Jan. 30. T. J. Maxx is expected to take over the prime retail spot.

As Dan Fife showed us, it's newly-remodeled and contains the brand-new "R" logo. This must be a well-performing store as its been remodeled three times and is one of the oldest stores in Mass.
