Has anyone noticed that most of those HUGE discout outlet malls (Like Factory Stores of America or instance) are going by the way side.  Each summer I take a vacation to Florida and we stop at the outlet malls along the interstates and I have noticed with each passing year that most of these centers have more and more vacancies in them.  The stores that are still there are always the sames ones in the next outlet mall down the highway.  How much longer before this outdoor shopping idea goes away back to the indoor malls?

In Kittery and Freeport Maine, they are doing quite well.  But just recently, one in Freeport was half demolished to make way for a new Shaw's.  And a group of citizens in Kittery signed a petition to stop the expansion of outlet stores in their neiborhood.

Outlets are doing good in TIlton and Conway NH too.  The only one that failed was in North Hampton.  Even if they were close to the seacoast and offered tax-free shopping to its customers, that Factory Outlet plaza lost stores from it's opening until there was only a dozen left...

The big plaza and huge parking lot are now home to Shaw's, Marshalls, Home Depot and smaller stores in the remaining original building.

It seams like all the larger outlet malls seem to have the same stores city to city, state to state.  :hurt:
