Wendy Thomas now appears in some new Wendy's commercials, introducing a new double cheeseburger that she named after her dad, called "Dave's Hot 'n Juicy".

If you haven't seen the commercial yet, you can see it here on Youtube:

WENDYS HAS RETURNED THE HOT & GREASEY BURGER!

Isn't Dublin, OH, where the Wendy's corporate headquarters is? It only makes sense that the fancy prototype restaurant would be there. I highly doubt that many of the locations would receive such an extreme makeover, especially when a LOT of them have a bunch of vacant front-end space from removing the line rails and the salad bar.

StoreLiker2006

Store #1515, 17217 SE McLoughlin Blvd., Milwaukie, OR.

Opened c. 1979. Original mansard roof was replaced around c. 1988. Was recently expanded out front.

The long-vacant Wendy's in Lewiston, ME has finally been torn down...

Here's what it looked like not long after it closed...

the freestanding Wendy's near crossgates mall in Albany got axed probably because there is already one in the mall LOL Yeah I agree about Roy Rogers I have never seen a freestanding Roy Rogers in my whole life but they are peppered all over the thruway charging thruway prices which is why I have never eaten there.

I wonder how many months/years it will take to get franchisees to conform their signage to the new logo.

EddieJ1984

Funny how Wendy's and Arby's aren't part of the same company anymore, yet both change their logo's a week apart from each other.
So here is the new wendy's logo.

Initially I didn't like it since wendy's I thought never needed to change its logo. But I like the new wendy picture, and I'm sure the new wordmark will look good on he buildings.
At least they didn't try to awkwardly try to cram the new wordmark into the frame from the old logo (like arbys did with their wordmark and the hat)

The Wendy's girl always looked so good, now she's even better!  ;D

I was not too sure about this new Wendy's logo, but I'm starting to like it.

See a remodeled restaurant below:

The problem is that a lot of Wendy's units don't have the cash flow to cover the cost of such a radical makeover, so expect a lot of closures, sadly.

Zayre88

A lot of Wendy's closures happened already:  Exeter, Portsmouth... Lewiston, Skowhegan, Newport, Brewer...

'Tis true, but I'm talking about a new wave of closures triggered by the cost of makeovers.

Has anyone tried their new Frosty in a cone?

Haven't tried it myself, but the reviews I've read so far indicate that the consistency of the Frosty product is ill-suited as a stand-in for soft serve. For one thing, it melts far too quickly, which leads to a big mess.

Pikapower

I think Frostys are best served in a cup since it's like a cross between soft serve ice cream and milkshake!

I had lunch today at the Southington, CT Wendy's. It seems old and tired. The only modern amenity is a urinal in the men's room that flushes automatically.

The circa late 1970s Bangor, ME Wendy's is getting torn down and rebuilt to the modern corporate standard

Perhaps the coporation is offering some sort of deal for them to do it?

I remember reading once that McDonalds did something like that - loaned the franchisee the amount for renovations, with the deal that they wouldn't have to repay the loan unless their sales increased x amount.  Of course, only one or two didn't get the increase, so they got the majority of the money back (and probably more than made up for those couple with the increased amount from a % from the locations where business increased dramatically).

Meanwhile, likely due to the renovation costs, a Wendy's on Detroit's East Side also recently closed.

As Ray Kroc once said, McDonald's is in the real estate business, not the restaurant business. No surprise that they offered some sort of incentive.

Is their anything wendy's sells that's worth going their for? I have had their cheese burgers before and the meat is always so salty I can barely taste it and the cheese taste extra fake to me for some reason. I also tried their chicken nuggets, chicken sandwich, and fries and they all taste ok but are just kinda bleh.

Oh, Wendy's food isn't really all that bad at least it's better than McDonald's or Burger King, but there isn't really anything that they sell that is worth going there for! I'm partial to their spicy chicken sandwiches, that's my "usual suspect" that get at Wendy's. Their Burgers are pretty much decent!

My sense based on recent visits to Wendy's is that their menu has gotten too big
and too complicated.  The staff seems visibly confused, and long delays at the
counter and drive-thru have become common.

What does everyone think of the fries at Wendy's? I had them today and thought they were the worst tasting fries I've ever eaten.

I like Wendy's fries.   McDonalds are still the best IMO but Wendy's aren't bad.

Both better than either the classic or the satisfries at Burger King.

In general the government has been ruining French Fries for about a generation by
coming down hard on the fat and salt content.   News Flash; a fat-free, salt-free fry
is something you do not want to eat!

zonemad96

Personally I prefer seasoned fries to regular ones Popeye's is my favorite then it would be Arby's. As far as regular fries go Burger King used to be my favorite until they had to ruin them by making them "thick cut" now my favorite is McDonald's. Actually when Burger King changed their fries is when I stopped eating their all together.

Stork of The Weak

Checkers/Rally's (drive-ins with a traditional drive thru unlike Sonic) have great seasoned fries, as does Red Lobster.
