Here's the new look of the McDonald's on Queen Street. Photo taken from the parking lot of Shoprite Plaza across the street. A lot of people on the "You know you're from Southington" Facebook Group don't like the new look.

Bristol McDonald's across from Stop & Shop Plaza got a similar new look. I tried to take a picture from the plaza next door, but some butt-head in a red SUV parked right where I was trying to take the shot from. (And why couldn't MC'D's be closed in Bristol like BK was?)

I hate the new style of them...it doesn't look like a McD. It looks like a Starbucks..

The first photo, taken on July 31, 2012, is of a McDonald's on Dix Highway a block south of the Sears shopping center in Lincoln Park, Michigan that was remodeled into the current architectural style from the brown mansard roof style it formerly had.

The second photo, taken earlier that same day, is of another McDonald's (taken from a bad angle  :-[), this one on Southfield Road (M-39) in neighboring Allen Park, Michigan that has the 1950's architectural style.

Most locations that are either opened, reopened in new locations, or renovated used the two styles mentioned in the previous post. I personally like the '50s-inspired architectural design because it is a throwback to a simpler time when hamburgers were 15 cents, and I also like the golden arches on both sides of the building that light up at night.

Many of the McD's here in CT still have the old Mansard roof.  Many have been painted over the years from brown, to bright red, to a toned down light brown color.

I live near a McDonald's restaurant with the current retro (1950s-inspired) design in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The McD's in Brandon on Brandon BLVD (state Route 60) is like that...

They finally broke ground on the new McDonald's on North Main Street in Bristol, CT. It's being built on the former mall property opposite the Post Office. When the new one opens the one on the corner of Riverside Ave and North Main will be demolished and hopefully the can start redeveloping the former mall property.

I took a drive by the site over the weekend. They got quite a bit done in only a month. Sometimes when these stories come out about a groundbreaking on a new building they wait a while before actually doing something.

We have a new McDonalds that will open later this year in Bensalem, PA, at the Horizon Center complex, which main tennants includes 2 office buildings, Walmart, and Lowe's.  The one office building is the former Easter State Hospital main building.

The new McDonald's on North Main Street in Bristol, Connecticut opens today at Noon. The outside looks cool. From the small picture on the Bristol Press's website the inside looks pretty nifty. This is a replacement for the one at the corner of Riverside Ave and North Main Street where they have the famous "M" shaped hedge. It will be demolished soon.

That old McDonalds had an absolutely horrible location.  Literally 300 feet from both the Tenney Mountain Highway, and Interstate 93, yet it wasn't visible from either road.

I heard Jake's was already building in Bristol. I heard they're going into 1/2 of the old Blockbuster on Route 6 in The Price Chopper Plaza. That's just 4 miles from this old McD's. People move into this old McDs hoping they'll get some of the 3,000+ ESPN employees to go there the problem is it's very hard to get in and out of the ESPN Property and they have their own giant cafeteria. Those 2 factors along with high rent are the reasons McDs closed.

Wrapshody Bistro was the first restaurant that failed there after McDs. - During the day it was specializing in wrap sandwiches served with wine and salads. (Yeah because the first thing I want with my sandwich is a glass of wine). And at night they served a different menu all together and were more of a bar.

The New Owners took over and renamed named it The Zone at Wrapshody. - These owners tried to make it an upscale Sports Bar. It was a major epic fail. They didn't want young, college aged people hanging out there. They wanted the middle-upper middle class working professionals. 30 years old and older.  Another epic fail for them? They were often closed Saturdays during college football. You're a sports bar and you're closed for Saturday College Football? That's really smart.

The last restaurant never opened. They spent a lot of money renovating the place. (see the pictures in the link above). It was supposed to be an Indian Restaurant called Red Chili's. These owners were banking on it being successful based on the success of the Indian Restaurant on Queen Street next to El Sombrero. I don't know why Red Chilli's never opened.

McDonald's is aiming to be more healthy. A new option will be a side salad, a fruit, or vegetable instead of French Fries with your Value Meal. They also will be marketing a healthier Happy Meal promoting Apple Slices, and Milk, Juice, or Water with the Happy Meal  instead of Soda.

Here's video The Bristol Press shot of the demolition of the old McDonald's at the old Mall at Bristol Centre Property. The site is now known as Depot Square. This was the McD's with the famous M shaped hedge on Riverside Ave.

McDonald's will no longer be serving Heinz Ketchup. Part of the reason is one of the capital investment firms that recently acquired Heinz is also part owner of Burger King.

In the CNBC documentary, they were showing old footage of a Mcdonald's in their early days and we could see an employee in a kitchen and he was pouring Hunt's ketchup.  Maybe that partnership dates from back then!

Not sure what their supplier is now. Redpack is a major foodservice supplier for ketchup and other condiments.
