Ok, so I'm wondering, where does everyone here work or worked?

To start, my technical first job as helping my mom doing taxes at the Dudley town hall.

My first real job was Pana Ginos.  I was Asst. Manager and delivery driver for almost four years.  A lot of work, but it was fun and I made good money.

Next, some people I knew, new to the restaurant business, were opening a Subway franchise in town, so I went and helped them for a bit over a year.

Now I work at National Glass and Gate in Lincoln, RI.  Biller for our Family Dollar, CVS, and Helzberg Diamond accounts, as well as some small ones.  Feels great to be out of foodservice!

I started at Burger King when I was 16, and worked there for two years and ten months. I quit about a year ago.

A few days after I quit Burger King, I started at Price Chopper, and Friday will be my last day.

I am now going to take a month off before I ship out to Basic training for the US Air Force.

CVS for 4 years. My new state job now. I have done hard labor and even washed dishes. Went to college back in the day too. Nothing was as good as my "new" life now....

I work at Christmas Tree Shops, in North Attleboro.. a former Bradlees location.

In 1999 I Worked weekends as a dishwasher at Lake Compounce Amusement Park in Bristol, Connecticut for about a month. Got fired because someone snitched to the manager that me and a co-worker were playfully hitting one another.

2 days as a "prep" cook at Marinelli's Restaurant in Burlington, CT. Left there after the owner called me a "Stupid a**hole for cutting my finger when I was chopping carrots".

From just after Christmas 1999 until just before Christmas 2000 I worked at Shoprite in Bristol. I walked out in the middle of my shift one day because I was sick of being treated like crap. Bagger, Carriages, cleaning toilets, spills, etc.

One day as a dishwasher at Vita's Italian Market & Deli in Bristol in late August 2001. Left there because I was the only dishwasher and they told me I couldn't go home until they were all done even if it meant being there until 2AM. (They closed at 8).  They didn't have a dishwasher machine. Everything had to be done by hand. Had I known this I would've never taken the job.

Shaw's Bristol, Connecticut. October 2001 until September 2004. I was almost excluively doing carriages here. It took me from February 2003 until September 2004 until I finally got transferred to the Southington Shaw's.

Transferred to Shaw's in Southington in September 2004 because my family and I moved to Southington. While my primairy job was still carriages the store did a lot less business than Bristol so I was able to bag groceries a lot more often than in Bristol. Since the clean up person at the Southington Store only worked 9-2 (and not on Wednesdays or Sundays) I often did that in addition to the carriages. I trained to be a cashier in February 2006 and did that in addition to the carriages and clean up until I quit in May 2006 because I got hurt because of my supervisor.

I have been with Price Chopper in Southington since October 26 2006. My job title is officially cashier. Some days I am scheduled as a bagger. Doing carriages is no longer in my job description, but I have done them a few times to help out. The only thing I hate about my job is ringing on the Express Lane, primairily because every so often I get people who come though my line with more than 12 items. They often claim they can not see the sign on the light pole that says "12 Items or Less."

I feel like I'm filling out an application (sans the descriptions)...

Wal-Mart; Southington, CT.
from September 2003~January 2004.

My first, premiere job. Hired as a seasonal cashier but did other (people's) tedious jobs such as zoning, returning items to their departments, wiping down shopping carts (happened on my second day on the job), and carting trash to the incinerator in the back room. Made good money there as well as good chemistry with people there but didn't keep in contact with any today. I ended up getting laid-off a few days after Christmas, as expected. Originally, I thought they couldn't wait to get rid of me as I was often moody with a few of my superiors and often I argued with customers. Stupid me, but I eventually evolved and matured a bit more. Jobless for almost a half a year after, I attempted to reclaim my job but it never happened. I wonder why...

While I was cut on December 26, I often put January 2007 (for rounding purposes) on future apps.

CVS/pharmacy; Unionville, CT.
from November 2005~December 2006

Hired by a crazy, crazy man as a front end worker who left rather quickly (see: transferred then fired). While I once considered parts of the job a stain on my life, it ended up getting better throughout; I became good friends with my shift super and we eventually had a wacky assistant manager. There were some truly timeless moments I had there (including driving down to Shaw's in Canton to get Krispy Kreme doughnuts on company time because we felt like KK doughnuts).I lament the long-gone golden moments I had there with my coworkers.

Now anyone whose worked at CVS before know one thing; it's a small store so you had better master the art of the multitask. That's right, I did it all when I worked there: cashier, stocking, signing, returns, (briefly) photo-related concerns, and lugging the trash all the way to the other side of the plaza (those who know the "ghetto" CVS in Unionville know exactly what I mean). They work you like rats there, so you'd better have high tolerance or hard work ethic. Times weren't all bad though, the shift super and I had a ton of vandalistic/mischievous fun with that store.

Times there were wonderful over Summer 2006. Eventually the job itself decayed ending me to decide to leave and never return in the beginning of December. The story didn't end well because after petitioning for a raise, the cheap ass company refused to review me (and others) and give us much deserved wage increase. In other words, I never got a raise and I just left because of it.

Dunkin'Donuts-Baskin'Robbins; West Hartford, CT
from May 2006-August 2006

A culture shock for someone whose served over a year and a half in retail but nonetheless a good horror story experience. Can I give everyone some advice? Do not take a job at Dunkin Donuts especially if it has a Baskin Robbins ice cream shop attached to it. Unless you're prepared to work tireless hours, both counters and constantly find yourself doing more than your share without breaks, avoid working here. I had a horrid experience here; most of my superiors were tyrants and jerks as well as some of the most questionable authority figures.

I frequently left with headaches and sprained wrists from scooping sub-zero ice cream - and I'll never forget the arseholes who called out for work every Sunday - the day were there'd be lines out the door. My bosses almost hired the biggest idiots and refused to fire them when they just didn't show up for work or called out almost every weekend day.

We got tips but the pay was crap and the lines were typically endless. The job was too hard and stressful for the money. No one can say a damn thing until they'd actually worked at one. I ended up leaving in the beginning of August to vacation and focus on school for Fall to which I ended up transferring to another store.

Dunkin' Donuts; Farmington, CT
from December 2006-present

A HUGE step up from my last horror experience although not without some smaller awful situations. Now a closer (night shift), I'm my own boss (by default) as I run the place at night. While I'm not technically allowed to, I can surf the 'net, eat stuff (without paying), and generally do what I want whenever I want. I have tasks to do, all by myself, so work is still pretty tough some nights. I have to clean and do everything regarding customers myself as well.

I earn my tips even though not much is given at night where we don't get many customers, but am currently battling for a significant raise for my continued dedication (never called out, always show up on time - you know like employees should). I'm thinking about looking elsewhere for a more esteemed position but it's tough as I school every weekday from morn' to mid-noon.

Ultimately, I've applied for many jobs in my day including Target, who I used to hammer for applications. I now avoid any application which requires one to sit at a terminal for 45 minutes answering silly questions only to get no response from the employer. Waste of time.

Wow, where to start lol? first job, May 1994-October 1995, A&P in Navesink, NJ. Started as a cashier, in 3 months was book keeper. Got accused of taking money from the safe and was put in the deli for my last few months, doing both opening and closing shifts. After I left, they found the person that actually stole the money. Good company, on time with raises even though they scrimped on how much they were giving. Next was November 1995-November 1996, Winn Dixie, Stuart, FL. Cashier, then moved over to produce to help the other store in town out a few days a week, also did produce in my own store. Took a month off to see my sister when she had her 2nd child, then when I went back, I was put on stock crew, both day and night shifts. I had exactly 8 hours between shifts, so I was always there. Made decent money, and tons of hours. I also unloaded trucks for them, every truck, I was there for. After I left Florida, I worked at A&P in Yonkers, NY for 2 months. Then Shop Rite in North Bergen, NJ for a short time until I was forced to quit because of a troubled pregnancy. After I had my son in October 1997, I got a job 5 months later at Edwards in Jersey City, NJ, which through my father-in-law, I found out is now a Stop N Shop. Before it was Edwards, it was Foodtown or Foodland. Unsure 100% which. I quit there because I was tired of dealing with the Jersey City jerks thinking they should screw up their own order and blame me for it, so I locked my drawer and walked out, left my vest at the door. I got a job for 6 months after that as a security guard in a nursing home where my husband was a cook. We both got fired on the same day, for different reasons. I called my boss a bad word that rhymes with witch, and my husband was being replaced with another chef just because he was Austrian. My husband was there for 7 years and had the experience. The other guy only had 2 years. And he was a jerk too. Moved to west PA after that, and got a job in Shop N Save in Latrobe PA as a meat wrapper, and signer (for Sundays). I did that for 2 months. Moved around a few times, had a few jobs that only lasted a month or two including overnight weekend baker at Quick Stop in New Alexandria, PA. Moved to Greensburg, PA and worked for Eckerd for almost 2 years, starting out as cashier, moving over to pharmacy after a bit, and was working toward technician, made it as far as tech 1 before I was hospitalized for depression/anxiety, and when I left for a bit to clear my head, they fired me. I moved from the outskirts of town to near the center of town and got a job at Save A-Lot, that lasted 2 months as well. I ended up pregnant, and was forced out of work again. I left so that I could get the other insurance back that I had before, and then found out I was pregnant. I had my daughter in April 2005, then I worked for Big Lots for over a year, getting screwed over left and right. When minimum wage in this state was raised to 7.15 an hour, I was already making 7 an hour, so I only went up 15 cents. Then I was removed from furniture because I was pregnant again, and they said I "couldn't" do my job. I was still doing it before I found out I was pregnant, so I didn't see why I couldn't still. I walked out. When I showed up the next day, I was informed I was "fired" for abandoning my job. HAHAHAHA They are a bs company anyway. I'm now currently looking for a job, but I might have one at the Youth Shelter at the YMCA. A friend works there, and he told me I could get 10 an hour. I'll take it lol. And that's Jaime in a nutshell. I told you in other threads I worked for a few of the stores you had listed for discussions lol...

I started working for Winn-Dixie when I was 15 and worked there from Nov. 2000- Jun. 2006. I worked for Wal-Mart from Oct. 2004-Jun 2005 while I was working at Winn-Dixie, and Kohl's is Jun. 2006-Present.

I worked at Jean Coutu pharmacy (owner of Brooks, now part of Rite Aid) for 3 years part-time.  I then got a part-time job at Sears and kept working there doing various jobs and now got a full-time Logistics position.  I can't imagine working anywhere than in retail.

powersbt

I started working for Hannaford Supermarkets in the Fall of 1999. I was in college at the time, and used it for Extra spending money, and any expenses. I started working the Evening Shift filling Fast Movers, Changing Endcaps on the Weekends, and pretty much anything else I was supposed to do.

During my Summers '98-'01 I went on the road working for Midway Rides of Utica, a Travelling Carnival Company. One of my biggest passions in life, I still keep active with them to this day, and help them out when they are local, or take a couple of Roadtrips during the Summer to visit, and work.

on January 1st 2002, I started a Fulltime Position Overnights in Frozen Foods. Taking that position got my foot in the door as far as now being Fulltime. In May of 2002, I went for the Night Crew Chief Position that had opened up, and have been in that position ever since.

This Spring, after discussions, and after having been realigned to doing Overnight Dairy, it was found that it would be more profitable for me to change my position to Dairy/Frozen Supervisor. I still would oversee Dairy and Frozen, yet I would still be 2nd in command on Overnights.

For the most part I am happy being there. The Company has always treated me well. If you give the company little to no aggravation, then you will be treated well. I never imagined that I would be working in Retail when I was younger. I think my fascination of Retail stems from my current job. I enjoy going to other Supermarkets to see how they are setup, and their selection of Products. Wegmans stands out big time in my book.

Good God, am I the ONLY one on here who doesn't have a job?!?! I'm 14, and someday I plan on being a punter in the NFL. I also have always wanted to be an employee at FedEx Kinkos. No clue why that particular job, but it is one of my backups in case sports don't work out.

NO!!! Welcome to the club; I'm only 13.  Our trusty Ohio child labor laws won't let you work until you are 14 or 15, but I've always wanted to simply be a bagger at Kroger (a grocery store) and start earning moolah as early as possible.
