This is a shot of the Glenville, NY Kmart on Route 50 - it's from back in May, shortly before they started their closing sale.

work on the former kmart in north adams ma. I know this closed in 2002, but it opened 81 as a 55,000 sq.ft. store and rebuilt in 1994 as a 95,000 sq.ft. store. I can see why it closed, it is hard to get to and hard to get out as I went by it in 2002 and 2004 (I photographed it those times, but have yet to digitize those pictures), but wal-mart is the only store. I hate it when wal-marts the only store because of their mile long lines. If I need something when traveling, I do not purchase them at wal-mart at noon or before because of the long lines. This kmart was a nice looking one. But I think the not easy access caused it to close.

above is exactly like the two Kmarts i have in my area. I mean, identical! They remind me of a Hills or an Ames on the inside. The atmosphere is nostalgic. you all may not agree.. but they are good for one thing.. they kept it old school. Not this industrial look and appeal that WalMart has these days.
